Talk about a needle in a haystack- Please if anyone could give me a lead to locate a hood emblem for my '66 Lesabre. While I was working (I bartend) one of these drunk brat kids around here stole the emblem off my car.
After driving this car from NY to Cali and back, all those miles staring at the emblem, I can't bear to see the car without it. Looks like it's been castrated...
Thanks for your help

Okay I understand that your pissed about what happened but unless you saw the "kid" steal your emblem why would you assume it was a "kid"? Especially if you said it was a drunk kid who left your bar then hes clearly over 21 which, by law, is an adult. People really have to stop jumping to the conclusion that it was my generation who stole something.
If you saw the kid then I take back that paragraph and am truly sorry.

Louie,
When you get to the age of some of our fellow members, 21 IS still a kid. Don't take things so personally.

Maybe, he meant; Kid, as in maturity (or, the lack there-of)
Louie,
you shouldn't take him, accusing a kid of stealing his hood ornament, to heart. I've read many of your posts. You show a lot of maturity for someone your age.

I was that A$$hole kid when I was 15 and wanted a Dodge Ram. I don't know what I was thinking.:Dou: :(
I have never taken anything else that wasn't mine for many many years.:) I guess I just never had respect for others at that time and ran w/ a bad crowd. The ironic thing is, to me, the worst people are liars, then thieves. :spank:
What do those emblems run $$? If I can swing it, I'd like to buy it for you... :)
P.S Ignore the old farts. Wait, does that include me?????

DansGS,
Unbelievable. What a relief; Never thought I'd find one. I'll emal you.
Thank you
Further details: I came out to the lot blocks away from where I bartend to find the parking gate broken, garbages thrown around, a broken car window, and my missing hood emblem. Obviously one of these drunk kids that can't handle their liquor.
Cops said there were no cameras in that area of the lot. After almost 10 years, no more parking there.

Jason,
I can't believe you bought the emblem for me... Thank you so much. It's not merely admirable to admit your own mistakes, even so long ago, but to try and make a.... karmic realignment, I guess, is so awesome of you.
It's really hard to be upset about the vandalism of my car when it causes such an act of kindness as it's consequence.
Whatever I can do for you, it's done.
Thank you more for setting such an example of character for me, everyone else in the buick community here, and especially the younger guys who belong here.
Randy
Thanks to you too Dan.
The Lesabre has an added sentimentality for me because I drove it 12,000 miles cross-country and back in May... I'll try and figure out how to post some pictures of the car from various points of the journey.

OK V-8 Buick people; I saw this thread and I MUST tell my story.......
When I was in high School My father purchased a new 66 Lesabre Custom in June of 1966. White coupe, black vinyl and a/c. The first thing I did when it came home was to clean it up literally as well as figuratively. First a super detail which the dealer just passed over with a wash, and next, I took compound and removed all the black from the 4 hub caps. Not enough? Well I figured I'd remove the LeSabre emblem from the grille as well as the hood Tri-Shield ornament. I found a piece of plastic and made a desk ornament with that Tri-Shield. The grille badge went into my desk drawer.
Fast forward a few years later. My Mother knocked off the entire front clip and the insurance company said, "fix it". So they did and several months later we had the Lesabre back from the body shop ready to go. It even had a new grille badge and a new Tri-Shield ornament. Of course I removed them as soon as the car came home and duplicated the process I had done when the car was new.
I moved out of there in 1974 and took only the essentials. When my Mother died in 1999 I went back and sure enough these 4 parts actually showed up. I just didn't think to take them and who knows what my sister did with them.I wish I had them now. I better quit writing before I start crying. Mitch
