1979 ford capri
has only a 2 litre 4 banger with 5 speed manual in it but has a 3.54(something ) rear in it.
this makes it accelerate good
only weighs in at 2300 lbs or something

also this car is my first rwd car ( except for my buick but that one will not be running soon ) and i must say i enjoy to drive it anywhere.
it handels very good in my opinion ( good weight balance very near 50/50 )

it also has a bit of a muscle look to it with the long hood and stuff

I wonder what a buick 350 would do in it :pp
i've got one laying around

2.2l 5-speed gets 29mpg highway, 26.5 average. Great little SUV.

My other Car is a 1965 Chevelle 2-door Station wagon. It was featured several years ago on Horsepower TV. One of the hosts, Chuck Hanson, owned it then. I've had it for about 6 years and just put it back on the road.
I am having more fun with my newly acquired 71 Sportwagon (455 / 400).
And yeah, I'm a wagon guy.

A few pictures of my daily driver. The truck is an '02 Silverado with the Z71 suspension package and 5.3L engine with auto trans. and manual 4wd shift.I ordered the truck in late Summer of '01 and received in October of that year.I have installed headers, cat back duals,K&N cold air intake and a programmer to change shift points and other parameters on the stock computer. For "bling" I added a steel cowl induction hood with semi ghost '70 Chevelle SS stripes.I changed the torsion bar keys to raise the front end about 2" to level the stance and keep the 285's from rubbing anywhere.
Since I took delivery of it,the truck has towed all my projects and hauled all my junk to the swapmeets and countless loads of mulch, lumber, equipment, etc. while looking good doing it:TU: .

I had a request for pics of my project so here goes.

1955 Studebaker Commander Regal C-Body Coupe. It was originally a 224 V-8 with 3 speed OD and a 4.09 rear end. Someone swapped in a Stude 289 4V out of a '56 Sky Hawk years ago. It was originally a Texas car and then was brought to Northern IA back in the early 70's and stuffed in a machine shed with a whole collection of older cars. There it stayed until it was sold and brought to IL in 1996, stored again until '98 when it again changed hands and eventually put back into limited use. It still had the Texas title and 1970 TX plates at that time. It was driven about 3,000 miles and then parked again in 2003. I bought it last Fall with the intention of hopping up the 289 a little bit. Until last week that is, then I got my hands on a Buick 430 and the wheels started turning............

http://hotrodders.com/journal_photos/00010391/11986727680.jpg

It was originally Sea Foam Green with a White top and will be again ASAP. Plans now call for a mild tweak on the 430 with a 200-4R and an 8.5" 10 Bolt Posi. Plans are for a mild customizing job similar to this car but with blackwalls on body colored wheels with dog dish hub caps and occasionally a set of Moon discs.

good eye. i had a set of the non-chrome 15" ralleys from a 76 regal laying around and so i painted them up, added some rings and pontiac centercaps with some SS decals i found on ebay stuck on them, and some cheap walmart tires. for being such a low-dollar investment, i think they turned out looking pretty good.

Should I fetch her home? I was scouring the ads in craigslist near Phoenix near my nephews home and found this beside a 1954 Cadillac that was for sale. This one was not advertised but I've found the best way to buy them is before they are for sale. Same owners since 1968 and not run in several years. I live in PA and undecided what to do. Sell her where she sits or bring her home. I think its good to" reach across the aisle for the common good" and this would be a reach, not only in distance, but style as well.

This car in the linked thumbnail picture below was one of my favorite cars I had when I was younger. Ironically it was totaled by a 95 year old who drove her early 1980's Buick through a red light without touching her brakes. She hit me full speed without seeing me. Fortunately my younger brother who was a passenger was not injured. We were both fortunate as her Buick outweighed this vehicle significantly. It was a great little car with a lot of pep. My current Buick has the same color scheme as that little car and is the same model year as well (but the Buick is just a little bigger). I added a pic of my current Buick as well (click link to see it). They're both classics in my opinion. :)

1989 Buick Reatta. 173k miles..."Project GS" to get a 3800 Series II S/C and F40 six speed manual. Previously had a stock LN3 and "top swap" from a Series I L67. ''99-04 Mustang GT 17'' wheels, Aurora front and rear brake upgrade, too much time and money into it to list...

'94 Century wagon. 169k miles. 3100. Plumbing (family business) vehicle. Rust free, from Florida

'07 Subaru Forester. Manual trans. I wanted a new wagon with a manual transmission and a slight bit of off road capability and it serves well. Bought new. 52k miles.

Previously: '92 Ford Explorer XL 4x2 manual, '93 Explorer Limited 4x4, '03 Mercury Mountaineer AWD/4.6L (Ford modular engines are gutless)

Yeah, it'll be towing my RX3 circuit car around. It is a shame the GM ute, and the Ford ute above won't be exportedto the US as the new ElCamino/Ranchero. Where a truck is a necessity, but an F series is too big, these are fantastic. And, they're basically a workman's sports car. 1 speeding ticket already :Dou: The thing really hammers!

I know the motors are US built, the vehicle's only available here, and probably NZ.
The current one (mine) is the 290 (kw, or 389 hp) Boss, and the performance pack is 310 kw (415 hp)
They do look good with colour accents around the grille & hood hump.

Here is my 1985 GMC Sierra Classic 1/2 ton. I have owned the truck for 16 years and is the first vehicle I have ever purchased. I built the 350 4 bolt, added a shift kit to the TH 350, and added an Auburn posi and 3.73 gears. It has a 480 lift Comp Cam, Weiand Stealth intake, 650 double pump Holley, Hurst line lock, ceramic coat headers with most of the coating burned off (very disappointing considering how much they cost) 2 1/2 inch H-pipe exhaust with 40 series Flowmaster mufflers and 1969 Chevelle SS exhaust tips. The tires are BFG 255 60s on the front and 275 60s on the rear.

My dad an I painted it 15 years ago and it still shines.

Having owned this truck for so long, I know it inside and out. But, this is what I would have to sell in order to finance a Buick project.

I love the this truck. Looking at it, listening to the lope at idle, and catching rubber into second still bring a big goofy grin to my face 12 years after building the motor and the other drivetrain mods. (My four sons get that same grin when it catches rubber too!)

This is the first time I have ever posted photos, so wish me luck...

My new car for 2010

I found a couple of videos posted , and was in the race. The fist one is from last year (2008) and begins after a yellow flag. This was the A feature race. I was the last car in line on the re-start, (#9) and finished the race in 2cd place. This was the third time ever in a racecar as a driver. The video was taken by a friend of the white car, and is focused on him, but I was able to get in the video by being in the group…passed the white car when he got sideways, and the yellow car the next corner and finished 2cd.

The 2cd video is from 2009, and is a video of a heat race. I started on the front row outside. (blue car) My b-in-law is the red car. I’m still learning how to race, and this video shows it. BTW my b-in-law won the series points this year, and the car that won the heat race finished 2cd in points. Both drivers have extensive experience over me. I did manage a second place in this race…I passed my b-in-law coming out of turn four and was in front at the flag. I needed to change my line a little earlier in the race.

I have learned you need to go where they are not…I followed my b-in-law for several laps thinking he would make a mistake, and I would get him…wrong. Then the other car was coming…I caught a glimpse of him on the outside and I knew I had to get going…but it was to late. If you watch closely when the other car overtook me, I moved to his line and that is how I passed my b-in-law.

It was a good year…leaned a lot, had fun, won a feature race, finished fifth in points, despite missing three race nights, and no major accidents. I have a new car for next year, with a built engine…power should not be an issue. Looking forward to next year.

I guess maybe I get a little spoiled when it comes to getting a car wash. Living less than 5 miles from the Great Lakes here in Wisconsin is probably a lot different than living in Australia. In Milwaukee theres like 4 Scrub a dub brush carwash that cost 4 dollars. Every other gas station has a touchless carwash starting at 6 bucks. And then on my side of town there is a hand carwash on every other corner where they wash, dry, tire shine, clean windows an vac for 10 bucks plus tip. And then of course doing it myself.
I agree. Black is hard to keep clean if your the only one doing it( especially in Australia) But Ill trade me washing your cars for you snowblowing my driveway.

I wouldn't mind so much, but we are in a supposed drought at the moment, and for the last few years. The gov't has slapped water restrictions on us and washing your car at home is a big no no. Funnily enough, when the water was gov't owned, it was illegal to have a rainwater tank in suburban areas. Now that it's privatised, the gov't subsidises installation and purchase of tanks in the 'burbs :Dou:
I'm only a 1/4 mile from a diy carwash which costs me about $12 to get it the way I like it, $1=2mins, but it was one of those things I enjoyed doing at home.
Any more talk of the situation and I'll be blocked for political views :af:

I got you. We are pretty much in the oppisite of a drought. Cars sliding around, salted roads, plowing, freezing and on and on and on. School gets cancelled because of too much snow and the kids are too young to stay home alone so somebodys has to miss work.( my personal favorite)
Sucks here too. But we make the best of it

I have just bought my first Buick.... a 57 2-door Riviera.
I bought it as I felt I should have a car that allows me to act my age.

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k112/68vet/57%20Buick/57buickrearqtrsmall.jpg

In my shed I also have a 68 Corvette convertible.... bought 15 years ago.
The vette, on the other hand, makes me feel like a teenager everytime I get behind the wheel.
I have just completed a driveline makeover, with a 383 stroker small block, Tremec 5sp TKO-600 trans and a freshly rebuilt 3.73 Positrac rear end.

Other than that, it's quite original... except for the steering wheel on the right side :Brow:
With close to 500 neddies in a plastic shell, it certainly provides an adrenalin rush.

Now my daily driver would not be too familiar to you guys.
There was a post earlier showing an Australian Ford utility, model known as an XR8. (Similar to an El Camino)
Well I have a 6 cylinder version. the XR6T
The T signifies a factory intercooled turbocharged engine.
It is a 4.0 litre (245ci) inline 6, with dual overhead cams and a 24 valve alloy head, incorporating variable valve timing.
The factory turbo runs about 5psi of boost through a small front mount intercooler.
My 2003 model produced around 330hp and about 420 lbft of torque from the factory.

I have a few mods though, with a huge intercooler, some fuel delivery improvements and some mods to the turbo, I am running 16psi of boost to deliver over 550 hp and over 550 lbft of torque.

Now this XR6T suits my Jeckyl and Hyde personality....

When driven sedately it behaves like a factory 6 cylinder normally aspirated stocky.
Nice and smooth and economical. I'm the respectable Dr Jeckyl.

But lock the brakes up, bring the rpm up to build up boost, and hang on for a high stall launch which can fill a stadium with smoke....
The evil Mr Hyde comes out to play!
It weighs in at a portly 4100 lbs, but does the quarter mile in mid 11's at 123mph :TU:

Here is one of my "other" cars. I know, a Ford, but it was my mom's car that she gave to me. She bought it new in 1977. It has 67,000 miles on the original 302 motor and C-4 auto. I always thought Farrah Fawcett came with it.

Wow my dad had that exact car and a king cobra as well  Sweet!

I like your Ford. I had a 95 F-150, it was great.

I hate the bed rail height of the new F-150. To increase the advertised cargo space they keep raising the bed rail. What, good is cargo space if, one can't reach the cargo? WTF?!?!?

Here it is home in my driveway.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e297/icanfixitforyou/453af68a.jpg

It came with a stock 350/4 bbl. and a Richmond 5 speed with 3:70 gears. It was geared great for the track but much too low for street driving. After replacing the 350 with a 383 stroker it ran in the mid 12's before I snapped the rear. I had the rear rebuilt with 3:25's and swapped out the Richmond for a Tremec TKO II with an .82 overdrive gear. The car is minimally slower now - low 13's - mainly because I am afraid to stomp on it and make another expensive mistake - like blowing the rear again. Currently the car is in my garage for a complete paint stripping. There was some sub-standard repair work done to the car over the years that was showing through the paint so the paint came off, the shoddy work was removed and repaired and the car is almost ready for primer and paint.

I too have experienced a Jekyl/Hyde syndrome with this car. When I get behind the wheel I feel like a teenager again. I tend to drive it very aggressively at times - I love scaring the sh^t out of the crotch rockets when I am pacing them at 13X MPH but I must admit that it scares the sh^t out of me too. There is still more gas pedal to push on at that speed but I just can't do it. Excessive speed in a lightweight fiberglass bodied car on public highways doesn't make for a long life - or a clean driving record - so I try to keep the nonsense to a minimum. It makes a lot more sense to take the car to the track and get my jollies there but sometimes those crotch rockets need a good spanking!
