Ok guys, i am going to be doing 455 swap into my regal and was wanting to know if anyone could give any specifics for the swap. What fan shroud should i use? Should i use long or short water pump? What upper and lower radiator hoses to use? For those that have done this swap if you could supply part numbers that would be awesome or the application for the specific part would work too. Information like this is not in any of the stickys i have read so that is why i am asking. Any and all help would be appreciated. If someone can supply this information it should be made into a sticky for later reference. Thanks-Robert

well i dont have exact #s for you but i can tell you some of what i used. the water pump will depend one what pullys you have. if the motor you have has all the a/c pullys you will have to use the long pump. if your 455 was from a non a/c car you will use the short. as for a shroud i used one from a v-8 monte carlo and it has worked fine. i do have a flex fan in mine so i cant say if it will work with a normal stock clutch fan but i would think it would. as far as hoses im pretty sure i used the ones they listed for the 70 gs455 but i did have to do some trimming. i took the tags off of them or i would look for you. plus i work in a parts store so i had my choice of what to use. if i come accrossed the hose #s ill post them for you. good luck with the swap. its pretty easy untill headers are involved.:beer

Thanks Dan. That helps. I had an '80 regal once before with a sb 400 in it. I bought a 455 about 10yrs ago with the intent on putting it in, but one thing led to another and i pulled the engine and trans out and sold the car. I bought another 80 here a while back. I'm now the second owner. Now that i've got a new home for the 455, i'm gonna use it.

cool. make sure you throw some pictures on here. we regal owners love seeing other people shove 455s in regal engine bays. i think i have only seen 1 in the 78-80 body style so far.

Correct, as it also matters if your Buick 455 motor for your Regal was in a Rivera ... it's original WP-pulley being LONG-NOSED, and you make the mistake of buying a short-nose water pump ... WHILE HAVING THE RIVERA'S LONG-NOSE WATER-PUMP PULLEY digging into your water-pump housing ... like I did.:TU:
