But, it's ok to do it before you leave. Coming from the western states, is there a better route than I-80 past Chicago, thru Indiana, and what's the deal with a toll road in Ohio???? Where's the best spot to turn north and what's the preferred route thru Michigan to Flint?
I'll be on I-80 thru UT, WY, NE, IA, and then???

Yoou are right, I-80 around Chicago is a bear, but it is the only direct way to Michigan. I take I-80 to I-94 and go east to I-69. This will take you right to Flint
You can take I-69 to I-475 north and get off at the Robert T Longway exit ( the first exit north of I-69) and get into the right lane immediately as you must turn right on Longway. When you make the turn, you will see HUNDREDS of Buicks and you have arrived! :beer :beer

Hi John,

Glad your going. I guess this is another time when the left and right coasts can meet. We all will be at the Ramada at 4300 West Pierson Road, Flint. We have about 20 or so rooms booked. Plenty of slushies!

Have a safe trip, see ya there!

Hi Rick, glad to hear some BPG rabble-rousers will be gathered somewhere. I'm at a Sleep Inn, one of the two hotels the Riv Owners are gathered in. I'll stop by and say hello. Figure I'm looking at 1600-1700 miles one-way. Hope I don't spend the whole time fixing the car in the parking lot for the return.

I guess what I'm asking for is intel on any places to avoid because of summer road construction projects, places that seem to always have heavy traffic delays, how much tolls are, stuff like that.
