I want to get a new GM starter, but no GM dealerships have the part # to order. The parts guys (3 of them) said their books only go back to 1976...
Can anyone help with the part #? It's for my '70 Stage1.
Does anyone know if these starters are new or rebuilt?
TIA

Scott did your give him the high torque number? As you know it has an additional winding and can be visually differentiated by the way the copper terminal in the back fits. Marco you can get those as Delco remans in many parts stores.

Are there different part #'s for a '70 Buick 455 motor? Help!
I did find an AC Delco place that has them $10 cheaper ($85) than the dealerships.

The original number was 1108392 in my book. It has been a while since I put a low and high torque side by side. Looks like your copper tab to the solenoid has been painted. When the high torque model came in I do not know but I know it exists. I think it is like yours but the car I know I put one on is 30 miles away at our hangar.

Thanks Scott - I appreciate the research effort and I wish I knew about this sooner.
I just (and i mean just) got off the phone with a GM dealership - $82.00 + tax with a $20 core charge. I should have it in my hands Monday.

Does this look correct

That's the high torque starter. You can easily tell by the length of the copper extension between the solenoid and the case strap. The low torque 350 starters have a much shorter one.
