The rallys are 15"x6" and standard tires would have been 8.45-15s, or optional 225R-15 radials, or H-70-15 wide ovals. :TU:

So if the standard tire on a 6" rim is 225/70/15, will a 265/60/15 (same aspect ratio) on a 7" rallye wheel work on both the front and rear ??? Has anyone on here tried this on a 68 Riv?

I think if you do some research, you might see that they have managed to put a 275/60/15 on a 7" rim ,ours is 6" so 275 would be bulging way too much and unstable.

Don`t know whats the biggest size we can go at the back without rubbing the inside guard, fender or exhausr pipe.It looks to me that i only have about an inch and a half on either side before it touches, with 235`s on the rear.

Funkyman do you have 235's on the front...If so any probs with rubbing etc

How about Fatties tike these under the Riv. These cars were made for bologna under the tubs!

No in the rear, but im investigating as to the maximum rim and tire we can put on them, with maximum easthetics and road handling.I don`t want to compromise the ride comfort and handling, but definately increase the cornering abilities of the car with perhaps going with an 18,19" rim and a 40 profile width 295.Any ideas.Whats the maximum classic size we can put on like 15-8 275/50 maybe?
Does one need an axel modification.I have a Delux 67 Riviera. Not the GS.I`m thinking of putting in a 3.42bolt on Eaton Posi in the rear.

Can you put more focused photos please and give us the tire and rim exact specifications with the spacing. How does it affect road handling?

These are the only other shots I have on the computer. If ya need more I will get them later today. Wheels are 15x8 / 235-60 front 15x10 / 275-60 rear. They ride and handle great. good traction. no rubbing front or rear.

Not to get off-topic, but I love your 5-slots, Steve. I told you I bought some from a guy in my neighborhood, and then polished them for my wife's 65 El Camino. I posted a pic below of how I bought them vs. after I polished them.

Do you have any back spacers ,on that set up.

Sure thing, Steve. Yours are pretty shiny already. Wouldn't take too much to make them look like chrome.

No back spacers. I did have to grind off the fins from the outside edge of the drums to get the wheels over them. only enough space left for the stick on wheel weights.

My friend got his Rally wheels widened front to 8'' and rear to 10''.He is running 255/60/15 front and 295/50/15 at rear.I know that he had to put some rubber fillers in rear springs to harden it a bit.Oh i almost forgot its on a 66 Riv.This pic doesnt show it very good....:

OK I`d love to keep my Original Ralley wheels, but can you ask him who exactly did them for him, what specifications and what off set.I`ll be happy if you can find out the cost, what he paid,so we get an idea of what we will be quoted.I wouldn`t mind running those specs on my Riviera.

Funky post your name, we are all at friendly basis here:TU: .

As for the specs BS stays not touched,as they widened wheels to the outside.Rear to 10'' and front to 8''.
From what my friend told me he payed $170 for one wheel including rechroming. He promised me to give me coordinates for that shop.As soon as i will have it i'll post it here for You.

Peace Kacper.

Also does his wheels touch or rub the fenders or any parts in the front, when he truns them fully.

So, if we were to put a 17x10 on the rear, would the backspacing stay the same as the stock rally wheels? I would assume yes since we are increasing the diameter of the rim, and by using the same backspacing as the stock wheels, the extra width would then be to the outside of the rim, right?

These are the only other shots I have on the computer.

Those look good!

OK i have finally decided to go with staggered 22-10" rear and 20-8.5 front,i also want as fat tires as possible like 305/35/22 if not 285/35/22 .The stock offset is 0,what offset do i need to make it even or inline with the car body as in perfectly symetrically in the wheel well.I`m not going with a deep dish or side lip but flush 5 spoke. The highest offset i found was a +10 doesn`t come in a negative offset any ideas.

I think your going to rub on the inside rear. If you still have a stock style exhaust on the car the pipes come into the rear wheel wellsover 2 inches.

funkyman

No i had the exhaust completely redone and slightly modified to accomodate a larger tire.

For improving the suspension, check out Yardley's site: www.1badriv.com and look for his sway bar mods.

I went with the Coker redline radials 235/70-15 on stock Rallys.
