A couple years back I bought an in-tank fuel pump direct replacement for a 69 Riv... I knew it was a piece of crap when the box revealed it was manufactured by a company called "sunbeam." It didn't even last a week and left me stuck on the side of the road. I was excited when I located another pump through oldbuickparts.com which has been my favorite vender over the years.
Unfortunately, my old '69 Riv is gone, I'm finishing up a resto on my new '69 Riv and oldbuickparts.com has discontinued their quality in-tank fuel pump. The only product I've found is on ebay and it's made by a company I've never heard of called "replacement," and I don't want another piece-of-crap pump.
This fuel pump is identical to other in-tank fuel pumps used throughout the 80's and into the 90's... only problem is these are all intended for fuel injected engines and supply too much pressure to my carburetor.
Is there any other solution than my 2 options? 1) Buy and install a cheap pump and hope for the best or 2) get a quality aftermarket in-tank fuel pump and hope my mallory fuel pressure regulator can keep the pressure low enough for my carb.
Appreciate the help once again, fellas.. thanks.

What a relief... I wasted so much time examining the pressure output on so many different pumps from so many different cars. I hope I finally learned to just ask you guys first!

Thanks again

Is any modification needed to use the Ranger pump?

Not really. Pump comes with a different sock than the Riv's but believe you can use either. Other than that a direct no-brainer swap.Shortcut to Yardley's comments on the subject right here. (http://www.1badriv.com/hardway.htm#Hi%20Po%20Fuel%20Pump)
