I have read many posts on tremec installs where people are modifying the cross member. What is actually being modified? I have a 72 skylark convertible in the process of a frame off.
I am running a 455 with stock bell housing, an older tko 5 speed (as it has taken about 8 yrs to get to this point) and manual clutch.
I am in the process of completing my drive train with the body off the car so to this point most of it has bolted up fine using an unmodified stock t350 cross member with a urethane mount with the exception of having to drill out the back holes in the frame for the cross member. I know that the trans tunnel will be cut to accomidate the trans height.
Will I have problems running a stock cross member, does this mean the trans will sit too high to get the correct drive angle? As a note I am also running adjustable upper rear axle mounts to adjust rear end angle.
thanks
Rich
