Anybody know what the best back spacing would be for wheels on a 66 skylark? I want to run 225/70-15's on the front maybe something a little bigger out back.

I'm running 255's on an 8" wheel with 5" b/s and they fit perfect. Backspacing requirements vary depending on wheel width so what size wheel do you have?

Is there a standard of what size wheel / tire you can fit under the fender skirts? I have a 67 but they should be about the same I assume.

I'm running 235/60R-15 all the way around on mid 80's 15"x7 ralley wheels. I think they are about 4" back space.

Be very careful about the rear wheels if you are going custom. It is quite common for the rear diff to sit off center in these cars up to 1/2" or more. Measure the clearance on both sides carefully!

Not much room on the early cars, but I have seen some running an 8.5" wide wheel out back.

I have 255/60R-15 with 15x7 Buick mags on my 66. One side fits fine, the other side is tight....Like Brian said, the rear often isn't centered perfectly.

Buick wheel chart, here:

states 15x7 Buick mags have 4-3/8" backspace. Bill's suggestion of 5 inch should work well.:TU:

Thanks for the help, after doing some research I've figured out what I thought were buick rallies turned out to be olds ss1's that are on my car. The fronts seem to fit fine with the 225/70's but the backs are really close. I think some more research is required before I lay down any cash. Sometimes my cart has a way getting in front of my horse.
