Not from Texarkana there were 2 X's and they were both Stage1 4 speed cars. And yes both cars were sold.

Yes, you did. It was GREAT to watch that train wreck of a thread...Like you, it's vague.. Just the 'tastes like chicken' comment stuck in my mind. Must have been some poor sap you cheated a car out of :bla:

While this car sits outside, a relative of mine (genius) has been tying up half of a 4 car garage with a project that has not had a wrench turned on it in over a decade. Been torn apart since 1991. The rare gem that sits inside of this heated garage? A 1971 Skylark 350-2 barrel. No vinyl roof, bench seat auto . Power steering, power brake ,air car.Cleveland car its whole life. Rotted quarters,( replaced in late 80s with NOS) rotted floor needs total replacement. An NOS core support and NOS fenders sit in the rafters waiting.A GSX SITS OUTSIDE,BUT THIS TURD IS WARM AND DRY FOR 20 years????? It honestly makes me sick to my stomach see that X like that.:af:

I cant click on the old ebay ad but this is the guy that had them parked on a lot and an aerial view, correct? I recall a gold car in the photos.

It's amazing how many cars are just sitting in someones yard and they won't sell them because "there going to fix it up someday".

I hate to hear that.

Since I look at Cars in Barns all the time, I, too, am mystified by these people. The ones who say, "I'm gonna fix it up some day" don't bother me AS MUCH AS those who are simply stubborn and will not sell AND have no intention of fixing anything, ever.

There should be a psychological study of these people to determine how their brains were mis-wired and how they can be fixed. I understand that there are people who are "hoarders" who keep every scrap of everything they ever saw. And, I understand that there are people who are mentally unbalanced, of course, as many of us, including myself, contribute to this board.:beer

However, after looking at many pics on the Barn site and reading about so many owners who have no intention of doing anything but letting a car rot on purpose to, I guess, "spite" those who would save it and pay them dearly to do so, I am at a total loss as to why these people either do not need the cash, especially in today's world, or are stubborn about something that means very little in the whole scheme of things. To see this GSX sit like this, as well as the many other cars on the Barn site, is very frustrating. I guess I would ask one of them, “why?” What possible reason could you have for not selling to someone who will preserve an item that can no longer be found? I guess using the word “reason” here is my downfall.

Cheers!

Richard

Ya know, I wonder if it's worth somebody going up to the front door (if you knew where it was) and before he says "It's not for sale" or sticks his .306 in your mouth say "I'll give you $25,000 for it!!!" It may give him pause to say "Well, if he's offering 25, it must be worth 50" That may be enough to put a bug in his ass to sell it to somebody.

What's the worst that could happen? He says yes and you can't come up with the cabbage???

I dunno, just a thought. I know we all love a bargain, but we all hate to see these things rot away even more.

Looks like the GSX that was in Middleton WI. Looked at it in 1982, spoiler was all delaminated & car rusted badly. He used it to pull his boat to the lake. Complete car, non-stage, automatic. Disappeared in 1983-84. Stubborn SOB, may still have it "somewhere". Vegetation looks to be like something in WI.

I had a case something like this, there was a GS Stage One in town that a old man and his wife owned, the man passed away and the wife gave the car to her son that lived 150 miles away. The lady just wanted it out of her yard so the son had a local repair shop / tow company that always worked on the car for them tow it to there yard.

The tow companys son made the kid an offer of around $3000, well this kid had 10 or 20 thou floating in his head so it sat in the tow yard for about a year. I went in and asked about it one day, I do a lot of buisness with this place so I no them good. He gave me the phone number for the kid and I called him a few times trying to make a deal but he still wanted alot of money for a car that is going to need alot of money put to it to bring it back to life. Plus this kid dosn't know the 1st thing about cars either, all he knows is he's got a 1970 something and see's dollar signs floating all about.

Now the car go's missing from the yard one day, so I stop in and find out that the kid called and sold the car to the owners son a few days after I talked with him. I'm sure they held a big storage fee over his head and that's why he sold it to them. What ticked me off was the kid didn't even have the resepect to call me and a least give me a chance to make him another offer. But my dealings with this kid it didn't suprize me that he did that as he seemed like a little BLEEPing BLEEP.

In a way I'm glad I didn't get it because it would have been alot of money to fix it up. But in another way I'm pissed that I didn't get it because I was looking forward to fixing it up. Oh well, another one gets away.
