Lost my Dad

Yesterday evening about 8:30 my Dad lost his battle with Lung Cancer. He had fought it pretty hard for nearly five years. I was by his side when he took his last breath and the Lord took him on. He loved, and lived life to the fullest for 85 years and the last 6 months or so just took the wind out of his sails. I thank God he went peacefully and I was able to be there with him. Please remember our family in your prayers.

That is something you never get over. You just learn to live with it. God willing, we'll live to be 85 too. Be strong for everyone else around you.


My dad has been gone for 35 years and I still start crying every time I think about him.

I have to say that it almost physically hurts to think about the day when this will come for me. I adore my father and he has been a huge influence in my life. Words can't describe what he means to me. It sounds like the same for you. I wish you the comfort of knowing that your father knew how much you loved him, and that he will always be with you. That is small consolation, but I mean it sincerely. Hang in there.

Thanks to all for the help through this. Very hard even though he was 85 and had lived life as full as anyone ever could. He had smoked from about 14 to 28 (camel no filters) then quit because the new baby (me) was allergic to cigarette smoke. Just tossed them in the garbage and carried peppermint lifesavers in his shirt pocket for the next 20 years LOL. He is in a place now where his eyes and ears both work like new and hopefully driving a 36 Ford coupe (his all time favorite car) like the one he had when he and mom married. I now carry his prized Case Mini-Trapper which is still razor sharp with me everywhere in his memory.
