What's the best way to put the date code on the new ac compressor decal? It's hard to tell on my original if it's an ink stamp or stamped with those metal stamps.

Jim, Good luck. When I tried it it rubbed off. You may need a cloth ribbon typewriter like I have now. I have not tried one with that yet.

If you want to drive down sometime we can try it. I just live in Dracut. About 40 minutes from you.

That would be great. Any cruise nights in Dracut? The next show at Budweiser Merrimack is the 'Make a Wish' show on 8/7. If the weathers nice I'll head over.
It almost looks like the date was stamped with those metal number punches. I may try and get my hands on a set of those.

There is a cruise night in Lowell just down the road from me at Heritage Ice cream. I think it is Monday night. I have number stamps as well but no slash marks like they used.

Jim, I also have a decal I can test with the typewriter so you do not need to waste a trip if it does not work. I can post a picture. I may get to it this weekend.

I know where Heritage is. If it's nice monday I'll bring the buick down.
There's no slashes in the date code on my compressor decal. 041792, which translates to April 17, 1969 during the second shift according to Duane's cool "Understanding Date Coding Systems...." book. (free plug for you Duane)
I'll post a pic of the decal this weekend.

James, I have the metal stamps but no black ink. You would need to get a stamp pad. You are welcome to try. You may have tough time lining up the numbers.

I didn't make it to heritage tonight. Had cable issues and comcast ran new cable out to the pole. Hopefully next monday. I'd like to try with your stamps if possible.

that is not the correct configuration for a compressor whixh is stamped like
0117702..... which would translate to JANUARY 17, 1970 2ND shift.

actually there would not even be a 70 for 1970 just a 0 like in James' 69 example above.
