Dear V-8 Buick faithful,
Those of you who have caught the irregular soap-opera staring my 65 Buick Special Wagon know I've further eroded my wallet by going with the EZ-EFI system on the big-block Buick engine Jim Weise is building for me (actually for her of course!! )
The latest question has been - ya'know supplying some gas to this engine! After the usual miseries, I've confirmed that this car needs an El Camino/Chevelle wagon gas tank. So I can indeed either go with an "off-the-rack" Spectra-Premium gas tank or I could have a custom tank made by Rock Valley.
Rock Valley wants a bit under $1200 for a custom version of the original tank. However, that does include all the mounting hardware and tank includes two baffles.
I haven't been able to find out if the Spectra-Premium tanks for EFI include baffles. That seems really important for fuel pump durability. Does anybody know? Assuming these tanks are baffled, the difference is cost is . . . . considerable. The GM37EFI tank:

can be had on the street for under $500. Given that my trusty wagon is siphoning my wallet at an alarming rate, I'm feeling the pinch to do some economizing here.
What is the opinions of the V-8 Buick crowd? :Smarty: Is this an item where once more the better quality of the custom Rock Valley product will give me returns in better reliability and durability, or . . . . can I spare my wallet some of this siphoning!!
