Just curious if anyone has built a 550ish hp turbo V6 for their older Buick? Any idea on cost and headache versus a typical big block?

I don't know if its been done in a abody, but there is a guy with a 9second Turbo V6 96 impala SS... so weight isn't a issue.

There was a high 11 second 65 Skylark in HotRod or Car Craft with a turbo 6 in it. It was a really nice swap.

At the Nationals this year I saw a late 60's Firbird with a turbo 6 and I think it ran in the 9s. Wouldnt want to go that extreme but it did get me thinking.

Come to think of it, I think there was a member on here with a Maroon 65 with a GN V6-Turbo transplant. I can't remember his username though. His was beautifully done as well.

Somewhere I saw a sportwagon (cant remember the exact model year) that had a GN drivetrain in it. Cant for the life of me remember where I saw it, but it was very very well done.

I kind of figured it should drop in like a typical small block, good to know. This might be the wrong forum to ask (probably one of the turbo sites would be better) but I wonder it would cost to built compared to to a big block. There seems to be more of an aftermarket so heads/cranks/etc might be cheaper but there is the added cost of the turbo and intercooler. I was just trying to compare cost figuring that to put a strong and reliable big block with aluminum heads together will more than likely start around $6k plus.

Build cost would probably be around the same with a stroker kit, aluminum heads, etc.
Fuel mileage would be MUCH better with the EFI v6, as long as you could keep your foot out of it.:3gears:
