and said good by Dad, see you when i see you
its very hard right now, but this is what he wanted
i still rember him being this 10 year old boy, standing in front of the sign at the sault ste. marie canal with the castle on the side
it said
built by army corp of engineers
at 10 he said i can do that ; - )
at 19
he had that castle pinned to his uniform, and i couldn't have been more proud
i saved that picture, and showed it to his sargents, all they could do is smile
he took top honors in his graduating class of 212 men
thank you

Great to hear that he is OK. My son is in the Marine Corp. He's at Camp Pendleton now and his cousin is presently still in Afghanistan. It is tough when you have family in harms way, especially this time of year. God bless them all!

Glad to hear Brian is OK. 40 years ago I was a scared kid in the army away from home for the first time at Christmas, it sucks! I know how proud you must be of him and how relieved your whole family must be knowing he is well. I hope he knows how many folks at home are grateful for his service. God Bless

Greg, I am so glad that Brian is safe right now. I remember briefly meeting him 7 or 8 years ago when you took me parts chasing to all those little yards.

He sure has grown up eh!! Keep the faith, I'm sure he will be fine.:TU:

Greg,

First I want to thank your Son for his service to this country and your family's support for him doing what he wants to do. I certainly hope he can stay clear of harm's way while he is there. Those of us who do not have children or family serving there probably cannot honestly feel the tension that grips your nerves. I had an Uncle that was an Engineer in WWII. He was very proud of the accompishments of the Engineers during that war. I'm sure, though he is not living now, that he would be exceptionally proud of your Son carrying the torch of the Army Engineer today.

Retired US Navy here; Parents were also ex-military. "Normal" people don't even begin to know the stress that a military family goes through, ESPECIALLY the parents of a deployed member in harm's way...without contact, or when contact is broken. (shed a few also)
Glad to hear he's OK.

Merry Christmas to you too, Greg.

I think all of us with military family, deployed or not, are holding our breath in hope of safe return.

My prayers for him and all our servicemen. Forty three years ago I spent Christmas in Viet Nam with the 43rd Engineer Battalion. Tell him ESSAYONS from a fellow engineer.
