Strap yourselves in folks, it's that time of year again...The East Coast Regional Buick Meet is taking place once again at beautiful Cecil County Dragway in Rising Sun, Maryland. For an event flyer, click on: http://www.northeastgsgnclub.com/flyers/ECBPM2003.pdf
There will be Test and Tune all day on Friday, Oct. 10th. Open to ALL makes, so tell your buddies with the Brand-X cars to bring'em on down. There'll be plenty of room for everyone and an unlimited number of runs! Just ask Doug Kelly, he and his wife made 50 side-by-side passes against each other a couple of years ago on Friday. We'll also have a Gambler's Race on Friday for all those who are interested.
Saturday we will have time trials in the morning, with Buick eliminations in the afternoon, as well as a "Display Only" car show in an area set aside in the pits. ALL cars in eliminations MUST be Buick powered, however, there will be Test and Tune all day on Saturday for Non-Buicks, so if your Brand-X buddies want to stick around for Saturday to make more time runs, they are welcome to do so. I hope to see you all there.

This should be a fast meet. I know of some quick Ohio boys coming in as well as Michigan, Indiana and maybe Texas again. The Turbo cars did not last long last year in the Quick 16 and we may have to turn it into a Quick 32 going by the response I am getting so far. The bump for the Quick 16 should be a low 10 I bet.

I can't open either one. Is there a host hotel or somewhere most are staying? I am now planning to make this event but need to find a place to stay. Thanks, Dennis

The host hotel is the Crystal Inn and the phone is (800) 631-3803. They are located at exit 100 in Maryland right off of Rt95.. The track is 5 minutes away.

Dave, the only time I've run as fast as at the Cecil County meet was at Atco Raceway here in NJ on a crisp 48 degree Dec. day. So I wouldn't say it's impossible to run better than at this race, just unlikely! Youze MI guys aren't gonna take our money home witcha are ya?

Thanks for the info John.
Doug, I have every intention of hauling money back to Michigan with me. Got to iron out a couple of details and I can make it out there.

Hey Dave! All we had here was some wind and rain. A few trees down and parts of the state lost power from the lines getting knocked down. No problem by me though. As far as Maryland goes...they've got plenty of time to dry it out before we get there. Even though the track is only a couple of miles from Chesapeake Bay, it's uphill from it so it's not a problem. Also, my trans guy is going down to Cecil to race tomorrow at some $5000.00 bracket race, so I'll ask him how the track made out, weather-wise. See you there, Doug.

Got some info and pics from my Brother tonight of the destruction in his neck of the woods, 35 miles from Inner Harbor, Baltimore, and its not nice. I have Oct 10th as a vacation day, but no travel day to make it to Cecil, but you never know, what I can wiesel out of work, our buddy Bill Wills, says I should book a room and then go from there, I won't make the trip I made last year, and I am not sure the car is up for a big race with tires worn out, etc. But I have my skinny 29x9s to put back on that have very few runs, so I will decide in the next couple days what I am going to do, and let you know, definitely would like to be there with all my best Buick friends, etc. RV

Guys, I live in Cecil County, MD and other than power outages and flooding near the bay and tributaries it isn't that bad. We had more wind then anything. For the most part I'd say the power problems are from trees down due to rain we got a couple days ago. We didn't see much rain with this storm. I've got a mess here and no power (using a generator right now) but, I'm sure everything will be squared away in time for the race. See ya' there.:TU:

Alright, you win, I made hotel reservations tonight, the rest is up to me also to get some things taken care of on the car, like change over the tires, back to 29x9s, cause I wore those big things out I bought at Norwalk from Ron last year, change the steel brake drum from 2002 to the aluminum ones I got from Scott Palmer at Norwalk this year, who also happens to be a new '70 GS convertible owner, he bought Stuedemann's blue car this past Saturday, and maybe find some mufflers, so you guys can't hear me, but I need some flanges on the headers as Wallyburger cut them off last year, still don't know what mufflers to put on, The Old Guy has the flowmasters from Dennis Halladay, which is where the headers came from, he keeps threatening that I should take 'em. But he's gone BDEing till later this week!
See ya. RV

No I'm not going to race it. In this case I'm only transporting it down as Doug will be trailering his 65. But it will be my first time driving one, maybe I can lose him in traffic and do a quick stop at Atco:Brow:

I think it stands for Mid Atlantic Nostalga Drag Racing Assosiation.

The Mandra cars usually total about 25 or 30 and really have no effect on the Buicks. The good news it helps differ the cost of the track rental because we get to put their money towards the track fee which in turn helps with the payouts for the race classes. It is also cool to see these cars run!

As long as the one dumb#@#$ isn't there racing in and out of the pits like last year......

Looks like we aren't going to be able to make it to Cecil this year, but we sure did have a blast last year.

I guess that means we all have to party hardy for you and save some of the partying for Norwalk in the Spring:beer

Shame you two can't make it, but sometimes things do come up. I'll be taking a ton of shots along with Larry and Alan and a few other photographers.

Could someone e-mail me a flier at happytrevor@msn.com. My computer doesn't support the file to get it from the links. I planned to make this race when I found out about the big money at Norwalk the same weekend. Would like to know the class breakdowns along with payouts and entry fees and gamblers races. Also aprox. time race would be over on Saturday, may make this race and haul to Norwalk for Sunday to try for the big money. Thanks, Dennis

Well I arrived at the Crystal Inn around 6pm and there are a bunch of guys here already! The weather is looking great for Friday and Saturday so come on down. The Michigan and Ohio gang are here and John and Robin Stevens just came in from Indiana. Trailers are pulling in as I write this and parking is already starting to get tight. Will update tomorrow nite with some ets.

The weather looked like it flip flopped a few times but should hold out. Unfortunately for me, some things came up and I won't be able to make it as I had originally planned. :(
Hope everyone has a great time.

My best to all!

Hey Dennis Halladay do you think you could handle the East Coast Meet? There might be some mediocre drivers with delay boxes attending. Don't expect double the payout if you win either!:moonu:

Rob Giroux with the blue 70 GS from Mass won the gambler's race today. He ran Dave Saye from Texas who owns John Jrs old car. Dave had an electrical problem on the line and Rob got a bye to win the $320 pot. Some breakage today with John Massoud hurting the engine, Bruno Dipalo hurting his as well and Greg Voss hurting his rear end. We had 65 cars racing today which was our largest for a Friday in the 7 years of this event. More news tomorrow.

Congratulations to John and Stan Zerucha who ran back to back 8 second times! 8.97 and 8.98 both in the 149 and change mph. John ran the 8.97 and Stan ran the 8.98. Doug Hecker ran a slew of 9.0's at 149 and change. We may try to pair them both up with the weather on Staurday being better, maybe we will get to see a side by side 8 second run with to big block full size Buicks!

I beleive Jack Cotton ran his Turbo over 151 mph. Lot of personal best times set so far! Rob Chilenski (blue wheels up Stage 1 ) ran 9.56 at 139 and thats with the steel heads!

Car count of Buicks racing for just the test and tune Friday was 65 Buicks. In the past this day is usually pulled around 30-35 cars. Weather looks good for Saturday and we are expecting a lot more to show up. Gary Paine ran his Skyhawk (Jim Wilsons old car) and was runing in the 9.50's. John Massoud was running 9.80's and the engine let go BIG time unfortunately, it also took out the trans. He never did get to run Doug and never got a chance to run the juice. Pete Bernard was running his twin turbo GN in the 8.40's.

Enough for now.
Rick Martinez

Tonight the weather is in the 50's with tomorrow to be in the low mid 70's.
