Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between an "Invicta" and an "Invicta Custom." The only reason I ask is that I recently bought some parts for my 1962 Invicta convertible. The inserts on the front and left 1/4 panels read "Invicta" with a tri-shield next to the word. The inserts I received along with the parts I purchased said "custom" next to "Invicta," leading me to believe that some of the 1962 cars were just "plain" Invicta's, and some were "custom" Invicta's. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks . . .

You are completely correct. The Invicta Custom was an upgraded interior trim package offered from 1960 through 1962. At least on 2-door hardtops and convertibles, the interiors consisted of fancy vinyl bucket seats and a short, non-operating center console. There may also have been a Custom package offered on the 4-door hardtops and Estate Wagons. I believe, for example, that a fancy interior was available on the '61 Invicta 4-door hardtop.

In 1962, the Wildcat was introduced as part of the Invicta series, and it seemed to carry the Invicta Custom theme even further with a full length operating console and the vinyl roof covering.

The Invicta Customs were beautifully done and seem to be quite rare today.

I was able to come up with one photo of a '62 Invicta Custom interior. (The car's exterior color is incorrect.)

Thanks for the reply and information . . . Nice to learn some more history about these cars . . . Do you have any good contacts/leads for parts? I can't seem to find any places that carry a full line of replacement parts . . . Thanks again!
