The frame for my 1955 Buick Special project arrived yesterday. Long wait. I'm still excited.
Make note of the boxed tubes (chrome molly), the 4 link rear, the integrated exhaust routing through the rear cross member, the Mustang II power steering, the air-bag friendly suspension mounting points, etc.
Now, off to the powder coat guys!

The car's going to have just about everything but, I have ruled out a BBQ because of the potential fire hazard.
What is a BBB (I am ashamed to ask)?

Well, I have been driving that car for 15 years with "a V8 with greater rigidity of a deeper and more heavily flanged 'block' and the greatest crankshaft bearing width of any V8 in America...". So says http://www.adilop.com/v8.html.
Not to be a heretic, but this is the car that I'm going to be driving for a long long time and that engine wasn't coming with me. It's to be a daily driver, also. Gas mileage means something. Reliability means something. I heavily lean toward EFI.
I've never had a car with a BBB. I don't need to get good times in the quarter mile - I just need to spin the tires now and then.
The current plans are for a Small Block RamJet 350 crate. Now, that I have the frame, any changes in engine selection will have to be done in the next 48 hours as the rest of the parts are about to be ordered.
I suspect that Dirty Harry might be able to convince me to change my mind!

Ahh, whats wrong with the nailhead?? If you spent the same ammount on your nailhead as you would a SBC crate motor (especially the RamJet) you would have a motor that would live forever and have WAY more balls than a Chev ever could!
You could even run a fulie set-up, why not use a Holley Pro-Digital TBI set-up? Even Mooneyes now has an EFI system concealed in the shell of Stromberg 97's.....
Whay I am trying to say is that there are plenty of cool options without resorting to the boring old SBC routine!!!

I'm a GM guy but I would Never even consider putting a Chevy motor in a Buick project like that. I'm not trying to be insulting(believe me). You would have a very welcomed show worthy project(from what I'm seeing so far -- caliber and money spent) at a buick event(there are many now a days) with a Buick power plant. With a chevy power plant in the Buick, I would guarantee that every body(judges included) will look the other way once the 350 is spotted. I would too. Looking good at a Buick event will be impossible. Sorry if this sounds insulting(not ment to be -- you have an awsome progect going on there). Plllleeeeeaaase reconsider. We will help. I promise.

OK - save gas and go with a SBB - ie Buick 350. Lots of power and good on gas.
Now - does anyone sell a crate motor Buick 350 for aforget?

I'm not saying this because I only like buicks, I like all older cars. I just think that taking the easy way out (chevy) is too over done. This is going to be too special of a car to dull it down with a sbc. My vote is for the nailhead with the stromberg EFI! Man,your car deserves it.

I'd have to agree and say go with a Buick plant.. but to each their own. esp when the price of that Stromberg EFI set up is approaching the cost of a complete ram jet 350! :eek2: hey nailhead_sled, do you have more info on it- ie, what will it fit? I couldn't find anything besides price and that graphic on mooneyes.com

It (they) will fit any application that a Stromberg 97 or 48 was intended for. The 97 is a 3 bolt carb. Any Offy 3 deuce, Weiand Drag Star 6 deuce or old U-Fab manifold would work.
