Hey Guys, with a little help from Dave Gramlow, O.K., a lot of help from, O.K. ------He did all of the work--------- I am finally able to post some pictures of my Riv. Hope you enjoy it, I sure do. The car weighs 4550 lbs. with me in it, has a 3.42 rear end, a 70 pound two piece driveshaft with 5 u-joints in it, and is just plain big. The First picture is of the iron stage-1 on the engine stand.

This is a side shot. The original photo showed the color very well. It was shot in 1989 in Chrysler Black Cherry. It is a little bleached out on the post, but oh well.

Here's the 1st shot of the interior.

This is the 2nd shot of the interior. The front seats and seat covers came from RJS exactly as is and the upholstry shop matched the rear seat fabric and pattern.

This is a shot of the engine installed in the car. I know it's filthy, but c'mon I do drive the thing.

Heck, I just pushed a couple buttons and clicked the mouse a few times! :o
Mark's right, the color looks much better than these scanned photos show. You need to find yourself a digital camera!

Very beautiful. I love that color and the wheels. Speaking of which... if you don't mind me asking, what is the bolt pattern and what are the wheels called and where did you get them?

i can't quite tell, but those look like the same (iirc) american racing wheels that yardley has. they might be be eagle alloys, though, i can't remember. either way, should be the big buick 5x5 bolt pattern.
p.s. i love the car, of course. ;)

They are Center Line "Billet Star" wheels in a 5x5 bolt circle with 3.5 inch backspace in a 15x7 size. I ordered them from Summit Racing in 1992 or '93 I can't really remember, but they are still available. Thanks for the nice words:)

What brand of hood scoop is that? (Nice air pan too!:Brow: )

The hood scoop is a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang replica piece that I bought from Unlimited Products. The air pan was made out of a piece of aluminum sheet and a big piece of foam that was cut into a doughnut.

That is one damn mean lookin' 67 Rivi! I have a 1967 Riv also, it is currently waiting for a level 1 engine from Tri-Shield Performance. Won't be running 12's, but it will make for one hell of a cruiser!

Hi Mark,
Very nice looking Riv.
A couple of questions if you don't mind. I'm gathering info to customize mine a bit.
The ride height, what did you do to give it it's current stance?
The tires, what size are they?
The engine, have you had it dyno tested? I'm curious as to how much power is needed to do the 1/4 mile in 12secs.
Thanks,
Serge.

1) I installed different springs. They are around 950 lb/inch in the front and 270 lb/in in the rear if I remember right. The springs themselves are shorter than stock and about double the stock rate. I looked in a spring application book and found some that would work. I do not remember the specific applications because it was so long ago.
2) Normally, the tires are 255/60/15 rear and 245/60/15 front, but in these pictures I have Hoosier 27.5-8.5-15 Dirt Bozz oval track tires on it. They are about an inch taller than the normal tires and give the car more rake. It usually sits level, or very close to level. I put these tires on because they hook up fairly well and they were free. They are not DOT approved however.
3) The motor has never been on a dyno and the car has never been on a chassis dyno. According to a power calculator, it takes 503 hp at the rear wheels to make a 4500 lb car run 109.49 mph in the quarter, but I personally don't think it has that much power. If I had to guess, I would say it has around 450 at the rear wheels and about 575 at the motor. That is just a guess though.:Do No:

About a month ago, Dave Gramlow and Ed Wilt (topless 64-455) got to go for rides in this thing. You can read about their impressions on this link:

I'll need a full second head start, but we'll run at Salem next year!
And yes, our cars do look very good with that style wheel. Very similar to my Eagle Alloys.
$100 a piece from Summit. Hell of a deal!

You're ON! Loser buys the first round:beer winner buys the second:beer I am really looking forward to seeing your Riv, it is beautiful from the pictures. I bought the Centerlines when they first came out. I had the Buick road wheels on the car with 225-70-15's but when I saw those "forged billet" Centerlines I had to have them. ------------See you in Salem-------Mark D.

I LOVE that color. That is EXACTLY what i have in mind for my '69 GS. Do you happen to have a paint code for that?

Just go to the paint store and ask for 1989 Chrysler Black Cherry. I believe that it is for a caravan, but the color also came on shadows, lebarons, and others. There are 3 variences, this color is the "standard" varience. That is all I know. It has been 13 years since this car has been painted, other than the hood scoop which was painted in '97 or so.

Very nice looking Riviera you got there.:TU: I like that you removed the lower trim from under the doors. That's the same thing I am in the process of doing with mine, just have to smooth out the bottoms of the fenders. Did you do the body work yourself?
Mark Dalquist
01-02-2011, 11:22 PM
No, I was in high school at the time but even then I knew bodywork wasn't my thing. I paid about $2G for the paint and body work that was done not including what I spent to straighten and rechrome the bumpers ($500) at the time. The body work is not the best and if you see the car up close you can pick it apart pretty easily but I was 16/17 years old and it took everything I had to even afford that. And the body shop treated me really fairly. It has held up all of these years and still has good gloss and depth, no cracking paint looks good the car is just a little wavy thats all.
There was a lot of chrome removed too, not just the lower sills but the wheel well moldings, the center door strips, the center hood strip, and the grill and the rear panel were blacked out. I'm still happy with the look even today. I always liked it better without the hood scoop but it was a compromise so I could run the SP-1 and the Dommi.:3gears:
Thanks for the interest ----------------- Later, Mark.
BTW: since I posted this the car has gone 11.66 at 116+ in the quarter still heavy as hell and with 3.42 gears and an iron head stage-1.
