trans rebuild damned if i do damned..

I either need to rebuild my trans or, go whith the adapter to a new tranny for my 59 LeSabre. Any guess on witch would be cheaper. I was planning on pulling the trans for them if I get it rebuilt, and supply the rebuild kit to cut the cost a bit. Although a new trans sounds good, I wasnt sure about rigging new transmission mounts and how big a pain it would be. I'm pretty strapped for cash. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Too many Buicks to little money.

Putting in a new trans is obviosly gona cost more more after closer inspection. With the new rear end and all. Any guess on rebuild cost.

Check out this recent thread on the Buick Club/AACA Forums. You will see that a Dynaflow rebuild can run in the $800 - $1,500 range.

There are many competent Dynaflow experts around the country, so make sure you select carefully who you use to do the work. Or, you can opt to do it yourself.

I agree, it would be CONSIDERABLY more expensive to change to a different type transmission, and a rebuilt Dynaflow should provide many years of trouble-free service.

there is that new adapter for a 700r4. it was in sreet rooder, r and c, or custom rodder last month i think. that would be an alternative that might not be any more than a dino flow rebuild.

There is a transmission company in OKC that was going to charge me about $900.00 for my '60 Pontiac. I know it's not a Dyno, but will have a bud of mine check Monday on the rebuild cost. They have been in business since the late '50's and are supposedly really great.
