I have an ugly pair of headlight bezels that I need to have redone. Is it worth the repair or should I try to find a nice set? Mine were originally chrome inside with only the grille portion the car color (black).
Any suggestions?

Len,
I'm pretty sure a guy by the name of Dennis Wheeler redoes them. I remember reading about it in one of the GSCA publications. I looked him up in my directory, his phone is 727-392-6859, and he's in Seminole FL. Don't remember the pricing, I'm sure it is fairly steep. Hard to find good ones, especially for a 71. Might be worth a phone call. Good luck.

Wheelz ran into some problems getting much rechrome work done, none of it his fault. I don't know if he has any 71 bezels finished and available for exchange(which is what he would like to do) but he may be willing to take a set to work on. I do know he's working on lining up a reliable/reputable shop to do this type of work. Yes, this stuff is expensive when restored.

Thanks. I will send Wheelz and e-mail.

When I repurchased my car the headlight bezels were missing. In haste I purchased a set off E-bay. They were listed as 1970-72. Before I spend any money refinishing these units I want to make sure they are the right part number. Are the units interchangable? I want the car to be as correct as possible and I don't want to put one something that is incorrect.
Thanks.

The 1970 units are different. The bumper dips down inboard of the lights and the bezels follow this contour. Physically you can bolt the part on, but you need the correct bumper (and grille!) to have proper fit and finish.

Sounds like these ones on ebay would have been a good find than. Maybe that is why Nick ended it early.

Nice one on E-bay. The part numbers I have do not match the part numbers in the 1971 manuals; however, neither did my replacement emblems. I am wondering if the 1972 are the same (now that we determined that the 1970 is different).
Anyone have the answer?

Len,
All 3 years of headlight bezels are different.
71 Left Part # 1234179
71 Right Part # 1234178
I have a decent pair of originals with a few pits that I paid $65.00 for. They would be good for a driver, or would make good cores for replating. If you need them let me know, all I want is what I payed for them.
