Skylark/GS rear spring rates

I've been trying to find out what the approximate spring-rate is for the rear of a 64-72 A-body. I know they vary depending on the suspension package, car weight, and year.

If anyone can tell me a spring rate and the application that would be great.

Any idea what the spring rate of the moroso's rear[/b] springs are?

In general, should they be softer than stock or stiffer? I did a web-search; it's amazing the amount of contradictory information you can find.

I just went through this.

Consensus was that softer is better (assuming you are not interested in cornering- just strip and "easy" street driving).

My junky old worn-out originals were about 75 #/inch (nice and soft!), my too-harsh new Moogs were about 175-200 #/inch (gives me a headache just thinking about it). Then I replaced the too-harsh moogs with some Eatons, I think they were about 125 #/inch. My 60' times dropped 0.15 second when I switched from Moogs to Eatons (Thanks Al F.!!!).

These were measured scientifically, by asking my brother to sit in the trunk of my car and measuring movement with a tape measure... :-)
