Stinger / Resistor wire

Just curious if I can run a straight 12v to the coil when using a Stinger S-4. Right now it is using the stock resistor wire. Don't want to try without asking because if the Stinger gets fried then I don't go to work.

Also, in case it does fry, can you use the Stinger coil with a pertronix ignitor?

you are supposed to run the stinger with the resistor wire. That's all I can tell you for sure. Since the amplifier is powered from the coil power too, I'd assume it will go bye-bye with direct 12 V. My bet is the stinger coil is the same as any other HD coil.
