Well just got back from a long trip with my 5 year old boy to the East coast to look at a 70 Yellow GSX. I have been working on this deal for 10 months and was well worth the wait.
After a 3 hour drive and nasty weather we arrived.
I Was plesently suprised on how detailed the car is. Every nut & bolt is new. Only flaw I could find is the clock is not working, other than that is it mint. This car is one of the finest examples I have ever seen of any car. Could not peel out the cash fast enough and give it to the owner! Sold!
At any rate I have finally found the GSX I have been wanting since I was a Kid.
The transport showed up 30 minutes after the $ hit the sellers bank, it was a perfect car deal.
Chris P is going to re-size some pics and post them for me.

Shipping is about 2500 to Anchorage, I pick it up from there with my Trailer.
From what I gather talking to past owners the motor was built to stage specs. Auto, tilt, AC.
I sent the vin to Wayne roberts to get documentation.
Yes, this is the car restored by R&R owned by Alan Mcham as discussed in the other thread in cars wanted.
Have not had any success contacting Alan, does anyone know how to contact him? I would really like to know what is in the motor, cam, heads, compression, etc.

Nope...
Satin black with body color overspray. Typically the heaviest on the corners of the floor pan. I would not call the floor paint semi-gloss black, but I know some guys go that way.. we mix our own gloss level in the cars we do in the shop, and it is not quite that shiny.
Picture someone painting the body with no frame, and bending down to paint the rocker panels, and you will get a good visual image of what the floor pans would look like, if we could step back to 1970 and lay on the ground in the dealership lot.
To re-create this in a frame off, that is exactly how we do it.
But nice "X" none the less.. Congrats!

If you bought a new (now NOS) set of quarters, would the black on those panels basically represent the color you are trying to match when mixing your paint? I guess msot of the sheet metal that GM makes has that thin coat of black paint on it to keep it from rusting...

Congratulations! What a great car. It's nice to see the inventory on V8 Buick has increased by one more. Here's an idea. Leave your car at Chris' until the end of June. You fly down and we can all go to Puyallup for the day!

Yes Adam, that is the gloss level we are after. Or maybe just a touch more.
I may be wrong here, as I will admit that I have not studied this in depth, and I was 3 or 4 years old when the '70's were new, but I don't believe the floor was actually painted in a seperate paint process during body assembly/paint. I do believe the color we see on the floor was actually applied at the time the floor pan was stamped out, and had the braces welded to it. And it was on the bottom side only, the inside of the floor is unpainted, except for overspray from the rocker sills/door jambs.
One of our buddies at the shop here did in fact work for a dealership when these cars were new. He actually ordered the cars new, and saw many of them on the hoist when they were brand new. Interestingly enough, every car that was sold out of that dealership got undercoated.. automatically. They had a undercoating bay, and a guy that did that day and night. To the best of Tim's recollection, the floor pans were oversprayed body color, and were a very similar shine as you would see in an NOS Quarter panel, if not exactly the same.
We actually paint the inside of the floor during a resto, for the simple reason that no one is gonna pull up the carpet to see if it is painted, and it offers protection from corrosion if the floor ever gets wet... especially in a ragtop. I believe this to be a functional, and practical deal.

Dang Harvey, June would be tourture waiting that long. The car will be in Seattle till the middle of April and then she's coming north.
Thanks all for the compliments on the car, It has been long time coming. I had to give up my 70 GTX to afford this car, I was really attached to the GTX.
I will get over it, here is a picture of the GTX, it went to a Guy in Norway.

Hey Dennis,
Let me know if either of the X's need a buff before they head to Alaska. You saw the GN right before my buddy Dan started, it was really scratched up bad.
Here it is afterwards. He only spent a couple of hours doing the whole car, said he could have made it nicer if we had more time.
Could probably work something out where he could do yours for a reasonable price if necessary.
What do you think?

Yes I think the White X could use a light Buff, mine looks pretty good but a coat of wax would not hurt.
Yes the GN looks much better when they dont use gravel to rub it out.

Nice X Dennis , Send me your E-Mail and I will send you some
pictures of my Stage 1 X. Bring it down to Portland where you
can use that Air Conditioning! You have a beautiful car, but then
