Finally got around to looking at the receipts, manuals that came with my '68 Skylark convertible. Need your assistance in decoding the P-O-P:

172 Y1 444678K110462

PP228 LL 1

ME117 12 4 8

Thanks in advance (I do have to get a digital camera for times like these) :Comp:

I believe that this is the dealer code for the selling dealership. Do a search on Dealer Codes to find a link to the web site that has the list of known dealer codes

VIN
Buick Skylark Custom cvonv. 1968 built at the Kansas City, Missouri plant

PP = 350ci 4bbl V-8 10.25:1 compression

228 = the shift at the engine plant during which the engine was built, for quality control purposes

LL = 2.73 open rear axle

1 = car built in January

ME = Super Turbine 300 2-speed automatic trans

117 = shift built

1 = power brakes

2 = Air conditioning

4 = AM radio

8 = power steering

I think the 172 is the trim number and the Y1 is for Cameo cream body color with a white top. I will have to check my books when I get home.
