Sorry, my pictures stink as usual. Anyway, I sure do like those old Sizzlers. Heres pics of my favorites from my collection. The Cuda, Trans Am, Boss Mustang, Camaro, and Ford GT.

Cool. I miss those things. Was trying to explain them to one of my friends the other day (she is a bit younger).

What are they? Some kind of track car?

Sort of. They had a battery built into them, and they came with a recharger. You charged them up for a few minutes and put them on the track. No slots though, just normal style Hot Wheels track.

Do you still have the wide black tracks with the banked curves? Those were cool.
I also had a 3-peice molded plastic unit with gates. The cars hand a spring mechanism. You'd use the gates to try to get your car to take different paths and get behind some one elses. When you hit the rear, the mechanism would send the car flying off the track.
I may still have this stuff somewhere.

We had that stuff. Those are some of my earliest memories. I believe our recharger may be shaped like a gas pump.
I could be mixing my tracks though.
Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, the gas-pump recharger that took all those D-cell batteries. I remember that too.

The motor shaft came out both ends of the "can". I used the armature from a Sizzler and put in a Tyco slot car, then used 2 ring and pinion setups to make a 4 wheel drive slot car.
I miss the days of being a kid.....

I am stopping tonight to get a Sizzlers that that Target has on sale. :3gears:
It's a basic oval "Fat Track" set, but for $24, I can get my stepson a couple of sets and make one big one.
I was just reminiscing with my brother the other day about our old set, and yesterday I open the Target sale paper and there they were, in all their glory. :-)
We didn't get the fat track, we had the older orange single lane track that they first came out with. The car were so fast that they would never stay on, but we played for many hours with those things.

Check out the reviews, sounds just like what I said to my wife the other day about how cool they are.

Cool. I didn't know they were still around.
Ever notice how those micro RC cars (like you see at Radio Shack) look a lot like Sizzlers?

They just started making replicas of Sizzlers a couple months ago, only available at Target. They are as loud and fast and chaotic as you remember. You will not be disappointed! Ron

Oh wow, thanx for posting the pictures. I had the Juice Machine, and a couple of the "garages" on the left. I think they are probably still in the attic.
The garage was for Hot Wheels, though, as the Sizzlers didn't need it.

If you have any hotwheels stuff in your attic from the late 60's early 70's I need your address and i'm coming over  . Yeah the garage on the left are superchargers and they shot the cars out, not meant for sizzlers, just thought I'd throw in a teaser...We are decorating our xmas tree as a hotwheels tree this year so all the good stuff is coming out. Enjoy the pics & Merry Christmas, Gord :TU:

I picked up my (er, I mean my son's) set on Friday. :3gears:
I am like a little kid, I can't wait set it up and run the cars. I also picked up a Trans Am and a 'Cuda, as the supplied car looks very dated. I think both of the extra cars are '70's. They were only $7.99 each, which from my recollection, isn't much more than they were in the 70's. I had a box in my attic that one of my long lost cars came in, from around 1974 or 5. I think the stickers said something like $3.49 or $4.49, which isn't bad considering the inflation rate of a real car.

That's why I don't post my real address
I could probably make some money, but I'd like to pass them on to my kids (if I ever have any). Maybe I'll just wait till I'm senile and regressing, and play with them again. :)

Truzi,
I was at Borders Book this morning looking for a book for my brother and saw a whole shelf dedicated to the collecting of Hot Wheels. I couldn't believe how thick and detailed some of the books were!!! My favorite HW car ever was the Red Barron car with the little chrome helmet. I had one of the originals with the tiny spike on top, I think I got it form my brother, but it's long been lost. :Dou:
My brother has a gold looking GMC motor home that our step dad got him when we went to a GM open house one year. It's gotta be worth something, I've never seen another one and I think GM had them made to give out to employees, if I remember right. I got to drive my dad's forklift at the open house, that was way more fun than getting a Hot Wheels.

Hey..... I just bought a set (track/cars) of Sizzlers from Target for my sons and "I" can't wait to play with it  You don't have to be senile to play with them again. At least I don't think I'm senile :puzzled:

Well, being that my Mom probably didn't think I was old enough (born in 70) I never got one :ball: but I do rember playing on some tracks with some my Mom's friends older kids. My son has something similar from Hot Wheels that I bought about ten years ago. The car sits on a AA charger/base to recharge but didn't come with a track. I've always loved cars for as long back as I can remember. God I wish I still had even half of what I did when I was a kid. I "demo'd" most of my Matchbox and Hot Wheels. I did finally start treating my toys better....eventually. Which is why I still have a case of 80's cars left. I do vividly remember my Evil K. wind-up motorcycle launcher and ramp. Even had his "stunt van". One of my favorite cars though were I think made by Tonka. I can't rember the name but you'd rev'em up and then hit the red button sticking out of the roof. The car would take off in an instant burnout and then start doing doughnuts and bouncing off everything in our kitchen. Ah, the good old days of looking through my Steve Austin dolls bionic eye or playing with my G.I. Joe. It was only 30 years ago for me.

Tonkas were great. I still have my Evel K stuff in the attic as well as the 6 Million Dollar man, his robot enemy and the spaceship/operating room.
Am I showing my age now?

You guys must've been rich. I've never even seen this stuff!! We thought making parachutes out of string and sandwich bags for our little green army guys was cool.
Must be why I buy bigger toys now....making up for an empty childhood??

Anyone remember getting army men from Hostess Ho Hos?
I was Christmas shopping in Target today and a Hotwheel case caught my eye. Done just like the old style - not updated at all. Then I checked out the Sizzlers and flashed back to my childhood. Same cars - I felt like I was a kid again, but in a different store.
You can tell by looking at them that the quality of plastic in the body isn't quite as good as the old ones, but they are perfect replicas - down to the cases they come in. It was great. I might have to get myself some.
I believe the Sizzler was the first toy I took the motor apart on and managed to put back together and have it work.

Man, my sister in law has all of that stuff from the bionic Man era. She has Steve Austin, the Bionic Woman, all of the accesories, and I think even a bionic dog. They are all still in the original packaging and sitting on shelves in her house. (we're not touch anything when we go over there)
She also has every Star Wars toy that I've ever seen and a lot that I never have and they are all still in the original packaging too.
Her house is like the "40 year Old Virgin's" house from that movie, except in her case, she's a "38 Year Old Virgin". The collection from the movie is nothing compared to her's. I thought I was a packrat, whew, she's got everyone that I know beat!!

Anyone ever see the Bionic Watermelon (sketch in a variety show)?
