ok so this isnt a wrenchin secret more of an 'emergency how to get y'self rolling again'...
Today my Hi pressure hose on my 55 roadmaster blew while i was headin out on a cruise..
I figured i was screwed as the only store in the vicinity was one of those D.I.Y home stores...I checked out if i could fix it..
the hose had split (as they often do) at the union where the Big hose from the PS pump drops down to the smaller bore hose....
i figured it couldnt hurt so i cut the union out to see the pipe sizes......
well i realised it was mebbe 13mm pipe dropping down to like 5mm er some (the tech ppl here will kno the exact dimensions)
I headed out to the DIY store and 'sweet talked a coupla pieces of copper tubing...(the sort they use on heating boilers etc..a piece of 13mm and a piece of Micro-bore)
anyhoo they fit into the hydraulic hose sweet... so i bought a gas blow torch and some solder and used some pliers to crimp the larger bore pipe onto the smaller pipe...then soldered it all up... fitted it up with a coupla Jubille clips..(filled it up with the Auto Trans fluid i always carry..the joys of a leaky dynaflow)
and bobs yer grandma's lover...
didnt leak and was sweet the 4miles er so to get my sorry butt home..
all in cost me bout 8 bucks... which is a damn sight cheaper than damage driving without Power steering in operation can cause...
