I ran across a 71 Stage 1 car on ebay. I am sure many of you have also. The question I have is if it is real or not. First of all it wasnt built in Flint. Second, the serial on the sheet is not on the same line as the rest of the vin and it also appears that the serial on the sheet is a slightly different font on then the rest of the numbers on it. Just curious, this one is bugging me. I wouldnt want to end up with a 17k 350 car.
Thanks.

Tom -

If it's This GS (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1837687075), it looks legit.

If it is not this GS, what car are you looking at?

WTF? Red alternator bracket? Red heater hoses? Red POWER BRAKE BOOSTER?! :Dou:

I was amazed till I saw those. What other mysteries hide beneath this beast?

Nice car though. What's with the black gas tank? Is it under coating?

The one I am reffering to is item # 1837687075. That build sheet seems really odd to me but Im not an expert here. Someone please take a look at this build sheet where the vin is. Also, from what I am told the valve covers may be 73 nos ones and the alt. bracket is from an a/c car. Can anyone verify this?:Do No:

guys:
look at the sequence # (02799) of the serial#
they are 2 different fonts . do not match up to
the font type used in the rest of the build sheet.
check your own build sheets . i will check mine .
is the windshield bottle correct ?

The Fisher Body number could also be a good cross-reference. That font seems consistant throughout the document, with the exception of the car serial #.

From the build sheets that I have seen the font for the serial number is different (usually larger). I am not sure why.

The blank build sheet was a standard form and the options, order number, dealer info, body style may have been printed before the actual serial number was known, so the serial number was printed at a later date. This is just a guess, but it kinda makes sense.

Maybe Duane H., could shed some light on this, I think he has seen more original build sheets than any of us.

a plausible explanation could be that the last 5
digits of the serial# are manually stamped at the
time vin plates are installed . i guess only an older assembly line worker at buick, chevelle, olds, etc., could have the definitive answer to this question .
