A drunk #$@% totaled my 59 LeSabre parked in front of my house last night and then tried to drive off. Made it two blocks then ran for it. He came over today to tell me his insurance would fix my car. Yeah let me go get a whole rear quarter panel for a 59 at the local parts place yeah right. Anyways its a total loss. So I'm looking for another 59 in the Texas area or surrounding states. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. 2 dr hardtops or sedans. I just sold my 55 to so I'm buick less except for the corpse of my old 59. Any 50's 52's or 53's also.
If any one else has ever had theres totaled before. Did the insurance company give you a decent amount of money. I'm just wondering what im in for.

i had a guy hit my 64 wildcat 2dr back about 6 years ago and the insurence guy was local so he came over and said nice beater. do you drive this in winter much. it was july and i asked him to leave. he offered me $300 buck to be done with it. this car was butiful and the rear left quarter was ripped right up to the door. i told him to hang on went in the house and called the cops and told them i had a trespaser on my property and needed them right away. he didn't get nothing out of it but the cops did tell him to leave. i ended up getting $1200 and a junk car.

I do have some fiends that own body shops / custom car builders that will give me some quotes that I hope will help out. the blue book on my car is 5800. I probably got 4000 in the car I hope I dont end up getting screwed.

I take it you just have regular auto insurance on the car, and not a classic car policy with an agreed value? If you insured with someone like Hagerty, you insure your car for a specific agreed value, and in the case of a total loss, you are paid the full agreed value. As long as you are driving the car within the requirements of the policy, of course. It isn't coverage for a daily driver, that you drive everywhere you go.

last october a drunk driver hit the pass front of my skylark and ruined the fender and bumper. insurance gave me $1200 which is enough to fix it but im was so strapped for cash i couldnt spend it on the car, i had to pay bills. &*@$ing drunk drivers though!! i feel your pain everytime i look at the front of my car.

I feel your pain Brandon.........#%^&*&^$ drunks. Last summer one drunken bozo ran a red light and totalled a nice '65 Wildcat that was on the way to our local Buick show.
What a sad waste, that loser took something away from you b/c of a selfish and irresponsible habit. I would not settle for a measley insurance check, I would fight and nail this turd to the wall and make him replace what he took from you by being stupid. Some people have no respect for old cars, but they are all works of art and each one is priceless to it's owner.
I keep mine in the garage as much as possible, and almost NEVER park it on the street unless it's at a cruise and I stay nearby and almost never leave her unsupervised, people no longer have respect for other's property.:spank:

This moron drove a car drunk...that kind of person is never responsible, or repectable. I've lost a total of 6 friends to these scum.
With full replacement insurance you're usually OK, but most insuirance companies are not out to protect thier customers. They'll lowball you and expect you to deal up.
Sheesh, makes you want to claim for the Picasso's in the trunk!

I think Ive found another car havent gone to see it yet, but it's another ground up project. Although it is a 2 dr hardtop invictica much more desireable than my lesabre sedan. Bigger engines are always better, and I suppose I could throw in my running 364 while I rebuild this one. Here we go again not quite as fun doing the same car twice but I do love the 59 and that evil looking grill.

If I ever build another Buick, I want a '59 convertible and I would put a dual quad 425 w/ SP in it, stroked and bored just a little, (I think it would fit OK) probably go with black but I don't like the maintenence involved with dark colors. :bglasses:

I got a friend a friend selling a 65 riv with the 425 for a grand I'd been tempted to buy it just for the engine to put in my 59. Only thing is the car is in pretty good shape just the rear quarter panel edge is smacked, and I'd feel bad parting such a good ride. If I cant find a friend to buy the car I thnk it will be in my driveway soon. If not just to reasemble it and put it it on ebay for some more $$$ to put in my next 50's ride.
The 52 in oceanside thats a little to far from texas.

i'm sure if you bought one some where a little far away we all could stage a cross country drive. some one picks it up and drives to a desingated spot and some one else takes it from there
just a thought

It will depend alot on who he has for an insurance company.
My '62 was hit last September (see thread here) (http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25636)
She had Nationwide....took a couple weeks, but they paid nearly $6000 to fix the car...and I got a fresh paint job out of it in the end.
Good luck.

This guys got allstate. Its who I go through to well se how they treat me when they send the ajuster. I just hope he recognizes that just because its flat black its not a beater, and how freakin rare these cars are. Hell if it cost 6 grand for that damage on your 62 they better get out the KY for what its going to take to fix mine. there probably going to try to total it, but I want to keep whats left for my next car or just for the motor. That 364 would sure be cool in a roadster or 30's pickup. The car is probably fixable but the amount of the repairs I could get a car that was in better condition to start with. My car was no prize when I bought it but I put alot of work in.

Howdy,
Brandon, your tempting a man beyound his limits brother! Tell me more about that 65 Riv, I just sold mine but have an idea for alittle unconventional power for such a car. I'd be happy to sell you the motor for cheap and take the body if its in decent shape for alittle unnatural aspiration and some modern suspention tweaks... big ol' grin here.
Thanks,

That 65 is in good shape it has been in an acident but he has a whole other front clip for it the only problem is that rear quarter panel it is smacked right on the edge of the rear quarter. Interior is nice too. I'm probably going to go get it and we could probably work something out. I'm not sure yet I do love the 65 and those hidden headlights. I am car less right now and need to fill my fix even if it be for a couple months (Idle hands). I'll let you know Are you in a great hurry for your next project.

Anyway you can get pictures of the car? I'm looking at getting into something soon. All I would need is the rolling body so no engine or tranny so you could get the really cool SP400 along with that 425. I can deal with reassembling the front clip and I think I get what you mean by right on the edge of the quarter, like back by the rear bumper or what?
Thanks,

I know this is blasphemy to many of you but I just found a 55 olds 2 dr sedan that I think might be my next project. Well just call it my buicks bastard brother, but you never know it just may become nailhead powered if I cant get that rocket going. Don't worry though I'm still planning on rebuilding the 59. I've just become disenchanted with the whole thing I can't even bare looking at it all beat up in my driveway. I think I need to cover it up for a while and get back to it when it dosent enrage me to see all my work crushed because some dick was trying to be a bad ass while he's drunk in the rain.
