New Owner Old Buick (55 Special)

I just bought a 1955 Buick Special on ebay. I am not really knowledgable about this particular car, though I have always liked these old beauties since I was about knee high to my mother. Anyway past my personal history I wanted to see if anyone could give me a few pointers with this car?

You know things to watch out for when I go to pick it up....

Also any helpful websites that well be able to help me locate replacement parts for the car. Right now I already know that it's in dire need of a break repair. The photos of the engine show alot of grease and oil caked on the thing which leads me to believe that there's some kind of leak somewhere.

Also if there is anyone in Austin, Texas that would be able to help me inspect the car for other problems that may have gone over looked I would appreciate it greatly.

Almost everything on buicks is gonna cost you but atleast youl be different than the rest of the crowd with there tri 5 chevys. ebay is about the most valuble thing around and www.kanter.com. this website is quite helpfull every once in a while someone might be helpfull or just a smart ass. Find your local chapter of the buick club of america and get on there web board ask them for some local guys fammiliar with the nailhead, but most engine shops could help you. most important get a shop manual for your car if all else fails read up and do it your self.

Go buy the shop manual for the car, I recently bought a 50 buick special and the shop manual came with it, but it is seriously helpful. I didn't know much about the car but i am doing pretty good now with the manual. The car will be ready for body work in a week or so as soon as my new starter comes in.
