Hi all,

It looks like it may be time to get a new set of tires for the Riv, spinning a peg leg has that effect, I was wondering wha the largest tire is that I can fit on it without any problems with rubbing. I'd like to get the widest as well as the tallest I can, anybody know?

Using stock rims?

of course, and I don't want to alter the back spacing either,

You'll be able to put HUGE tires in the rear. Not sure about the front or size. Mine are P225 215 R15 all the way around.

even with 7" rims, you might be able to get a 9" tire on there...

hmm...a question for the gurus!!

You can go with 245/65/15 on the 7J rims, or find Road Wheels from an Estate Wagon that are 8J, and go for 275/60/15 at the rear and 255/60/15 up front.

I've got 225/75/15 on there right now, they fill up the wheel well alright, I think they are a little taller than the 245/75's you know what they say, bigger is better (at least I like the look better)

225/75 means that the height of the tire wall is 75% of 225 mm.
So that's 168.7 mm.

245/75 (I don't think this size exists, I spoke about 245/65, but let's work out your 245/75 just for an example...) are 190.5 mm.

Total wheel height

with 225/75/15 = 168.7 mm + 168.7 mm + 381 mm (that's 15 inch in mm) = 718.4 mm = 28.3 inches

245/75/15 = 190.5 mm + 190.5 mm + 381 mm = 762 mm = 30.02 inches

And 245/65/15 = 159.2 mm + 159.2 mm + 381 mm = 699.4 mm = 27.55 inches

hee hee, typed faster than i was thinking. I did mean the 245/65, just got my numbers backwards.

so let's see that would mean that 245/65 would are slightly smaller around than the 225/75 I have right now.

I gotta question. Can I run P245/60-15's all around on my 73 Riv while using an aftermarket rim with the same 5 inch backspacing as on the rally's?
