I got my 'new' qjet installed today. It is the correct carb (7041544) for my car.

It started very easily, considering I let the fuel pump do all the priming. It idles as smoothly as can be. It pulls 20.0 inches of mercury at a 700 idle. I did not have to adjust anything. I was impressed.

It has no hesitation and is very responsive at less than WOT.

The problem is that at WOT the secondaries open fine and the car bogs. It actually feels like it is flooding. Anyone have a good guess as to why?

This carb had been sitting for years and I didn't so much as take the top cover off. I sprayed some carb cleaner into it. Should I send it to JOP or does this sound like an adjustment issue?

With the engine running at idle, try to push in the airvalves at the top rear of the carb. If you can push them in, the vacuum break on the passenger side front of the carb is defective. It is supposed to hold the airvalves closed, and then let them tip in gradually instead of flopping in, which is the most common cause for bogging. The airvalves themselves have an adjustable spring tension at the shaft. With the engine off, push the airvalves in and let them go. They should spring back smoothly and completely.

One other thing to check... the metering rod cam could be defective, especially if it sat for any period of time, exposed to the sun. This cam is located between the air valves in the air horn, and should visibly move the metering rod hanger as the valves move. It should rise and fall as the air valves open and close. Ray
