Altanator

Ok there is something really wrong with my car. Nothing electric is working except for the head lights. The Altanator went out so I put a new one on and now the engine wont even turn over. So I looked at the wires near the voltage regulator. No signs of burned up wires. Than the thing next to the voltage regulator that has a red wire that goes to the altanator. What is this thing. One of the wires is burned up pretty badly on it so I think it might be blown. It has 4 wires total going into it.

ok I figured it out.

It was in inline fuse near the starter motor.
