Does anyone run slicks on the street? Or just at the track. What are the cons of running them on the street. Besides water of course.

They hook less then a good 'street' type tire. Unless the road is dust and dirt free and there is track bite on it, slick DO NOT hook for nothing. Not to mention they suck to turn a corner with, illegal( YES, THEY WILL IMPOUND YOUR CAR) and slicks just aren't getting any cheaper.

Ummmmmmmmmmm, the law? :Do No: Other than that, put a little more pressure in them a go with it. Believe me, you don't want to drive around with the rear end swaying from side to side.

Just to set the record straight, I have been known to run around with no hood, open headers, no air cleaner, slicks, no plates, no sway bars, numbers in shoe polish still on windows and, ahem, 'doing a little over the speed limit'.
Problem with slicks on the street is heat~ thats why you do a burn out- to put heat into the compound.

Believe me, I'm no saint when it comes to that stuff. I was just being a smart a--, not trying to be a goody-goody or nuthin. And, your right, slicks suck for street racing unless you do a burnout. I bet nobody on this board has ever engaged in an illegal street race. Right guys?:Brow:
Peace.:TU:
