My under hood body tag shows ST 72 43467 FL1 TR 136 56 T OIC A65
I am trying to bring this 72 back to original.
Where are the GS marking soposed to be on the car including interior?
What if any differences are there between a GS and standard Convertible?
Thanks for thinking. :puzzled:

If you are asking the difference between a GS455 convert and a non GS then we are talking a 350 cid versus a 455, rear gear ratio and posi, fuel lines, badging , hood, rims, etc .

There are GS badges on the grille, trunk lid, and front fenders. "Buick Motor Division," "455," or "Stage 1" badges under the fender GSs, depending on how equiped. I can't remember if 72 GS converts have interior door panel emblems of not...
If your car is a 350 car, it is pretty much a 350 4bbl dual exhaust Skylark Custom with different hood, emblems and model number. If it is a 455 powered car there are a lot more differences.

Biggest difference is you have is a real GS:
ST (style) 72 is 1972 model year
43467=GS two door convertible
FLI is Flint plant
TR (trim) 136 is saddle interior
56T is sunburst yellow exterior with covert (light tan or cream) top
01C would be third week of January 1972 production
A65 is notchback bench front seat.
Sunburst yellow was a popular color for these cars, 87 of the 72 GS convertibles had it. There is more info and you can follow my resto at http://www.members.shaw.ca/ritc1
Might help you out. Have fun!! Oh yeah, seems 72 ragtops had the GS emblem on the door panel but hardtops did not..also some convertibles didn't have them either so its kind of up in the air. The rest has been covered already.
