Those of you that know this car will know that ChinaMike owned it before me. Mike and I both tried to confirm what GS trim it left the factory in. I have started to get the car ready for a 455 that's going in and have it up on blocks so I decided to try one more place for the build sheet. I dropped the gas tank today and voila!!! WE HAVE AN ANSWER....DRUM ROLL PLEASE. :bglasses:

My GS convertible is a 6 cyl 4 door sedan! (Series 33, style 69) It was built September 8th, 1970. The serial number on the build sheet is 6 numbers out from my car! September 8th was a Tuesday, not one of those fatefull Monday or Friday cars. I guess the boys on the line had a big laugh over this one. :spank: So I guess the mystery will never be solved except that I have found a couple of things on the car that were only on 455 cars.

Cheers

Duane is the man to ask. When I attended his 1st annual Northeast BPG picnic, I observed him giving a "lesson" on how to tell the difference between a chassis that had a 350 vs. 455. If the the steering shaft has a bolt in it where the flex joint is attached, it was originally built with a 455. Pressed on with no bolt = 350. I think I have a picture I will attach.

That is one of the things that I found on this car. It has the bolt on flange.
Thanks
Harvey

I thought you sold that gem on ebay. :Do No:

I know they used different front springs, if you ask Duane if it is possible to tell the difference between BBB & small springs..... Convertibles all used the same frame, so that doesn't help either.

Everything left on their to ID a BBB is a bolt on piece, I think. Just go with the 455 stage 1 pkg & be done! That is what I would have done if I bought it. :beer :beer

Oh, I almost forgot to add..... Congrats on the build sheet find. :ball:    :Dou:

Hi Dan,
Yes, the reserve was met but there was a mix up on the buyers end. Seems his wife bid on the car without him knowing about it. I let it go without making a fuss because I wasn't too upset that I got to keep it. Maybe I'll try again next year with the 455.
