I have a 455, with cast ported heads, stock intake and a Comp Cams 260H, duration 212 degrees (IN/EX) @.050"
and .454 lift

My 800 cfm Q-jet needs to have a rebuild, but I also think to put a new one on it. I have searched on Ebay for a carb, but found different types and brands of carbs. Will it have any advantage to put a 850 cfm rated carb on my engine? In what kind of way is a Q-jet better than a Holley/Barry grant? :Do No: Any suggestions?? :Do No:

The Holley (most of 'em, anyway) and Barry Grant (Demon) carbs are squarebores. The Q-Jet is a spreadbore. The two different designs can be adapted to each other, but will not directly bolt up on most manifolds.

The Q-jet is very sophisticated on the primary side, and rather primitive on the secondarys. This suits the driving style of most folks just fine

If you want a new Q-Jet, better hurry, they've been discontinued by Edelbrock. The performance unit, #1910, is only available now as a remanufactured unit, and supplies are limited. Some of the other part numbers are still in stock, but when they're gone, that's the end. I've heard the tooling was destroyed.
