Hey Jeff, nice car  Nice to hear you're enjoying the car, it looks like you're taking great care of it. I was hoping we would see you here on the V8 Board... :TU:

Jeff, I'll trade you even up for that 1970 plastic grip on the shifter for 1971 black one?? Gary :)

Gary, as far as I know, that's the original shifter handle..... :Do No: Unless of course you're just teasing Ol' Jeff.

Not that I doubt you Gary, but I've got to do a little research before I'm convinced on this one. I always thought the black automatic shifter handles were up to and including 1969. Maybe Duane could help on this one?..... :Smarty:

P.S. - Yeah, I thought you'd like that paint combo.... :Brow:

Hey Al,
Car has been really great. The hardest thing is finding so many people that think GSXs were made in 1970 only (Yellow or White color scheme). Telling people about the different colors in 71 and 72, they always ask how many were painted black/gold in 71. I then have to let the clone part come out. But for the most part most have no clue what they are looking at anyway. So all and all it has been great. I especially like cruising with the air on.
The car did not like the 100 degree summer days. Larger capacity radiator solved that.( F.A.S.T class getting closer. ) :Brow:

Gary at the present time I am pleased with my plastic simulated wood shifter unless you guys say it is incorrect. When the conclusion is made :Smarty: we might have a different answer.
Thanks guys!

Glad you like the car Jeff, it was always my favorite to cruise in especially with the AC on. Anyway, whatever the outcome with the handle, I can tell you that was the original handle that Buick installed, although the factory could have put the wrong one on.( Not convinced about that one yet Gary... :pp ).
I know Mike Garrison repro's the chrome insert for these handles, perhaps he has some info.Mike?

P.S. - Jeff, did you see what Greg Gessler just ran a week ago? (11.02!)

I dont know about that handle color but the car in itself looks amazing. Love the over look, and of course the color scheme.

My 71 had the black handle. But I'm sure there were differences.

Welcome to the board, Jeff!! Are you hooked yet? Did you get the intake?
Your car looks great, but I must admit it looks better in person. :TU:
For what it's worth, I have had four 71's and a 72 GS that came with the black handle, and one 70 that had the brown one.
I thought all 70 models were supposed to come with the brown and 71 and up were black.

Hey James,
Yes I received the intake on Saturday. Looks great with even better price. :TU: Thanks for your help in finding it. The shifter saga continues. Hopefully someone will get to the bottom of it. The brown one looks good enough for me not to worry with it yet.

Thanks Derek for the comments. I have only seen Brad's car in pictures. Would like to see it in person some day. I will just keep playing make believe and try to be satisfied. Just kidding, I love my car.

This beautiful car has now made it's way to the PNW. Actually, Vancouver, Canada. Thanks to the three previous owners for taking such great care of this car. You've made me a very happy owner!

To the console handle question. I was queried on this very thing at the BCA nats last month. So I dug out my 71 brochure when I got home and guess what???? Picture attached which shows that wood and chrome is correct in 1971. When I get the car judged I'm going to be sure to have this brochure handy.

Great car, it's been a fav of mine as it's changed hands. Proud addition to any stable. Is it GKMoz(?) former car? If so, saw it in person twice and its everything and more than it is in pictures. :beers2:

No, this isn't Moz's old car. This one was built by Al Fiandaca from New Jersey. He did a wonderful job on it.
