View Full Version : bone yard tip
Take a 12 volt battery from a cordless drill with you next time you go to the junk yard. You can use it to raise and lower power windows, pop trunks move power seats, and test radio's and other electrical stuff before you go to the trouble of removing them. And they are light to carry around. Brian

I Learned that also when I went hunting parts before but I also bring the drill so I can drill out rivets and things, ,Just kidding it is a cool tip :TU: I just wish I had thought of it before I learned it because most places won't take back parts that are Electrical in nature and I will admit that I have lost a few bucks in the past :Dou: Also a cheap continuity tester is also a great help. Sometimes it just a broken wire that needs to be replaced.

Wow,that is a good idea, I bet a power wheels toy's 12v battery would be a candidate for that too, they're pretty mean little things. Tom

I have a 2004 Nissian P/U that has the 12 Volt supply plugs instead of the a good old cig/cigar lighter and I made a set of jumper cables that I use, when they let you drive back to places in the yards, I know some places don't but then there are a few that are cool about letting you drive your car/truck around the yards so the set of Jumpers that I made up just plugs into the 12 Volt supply plug. I made mine from a plug from an old cell charger I just gutted the inside and hooked up the wires so I get 12 volts at the tips,If I remember I will post a picture of it.

Cool idea. Could even give use out of one of those batteries after the drill dies (its often cheaper to get a new drill, and of course the old batteries won't fit).
