Brett , if you are purchasing a SUncoupe you need to look closely at the top mechanism and tracks for smooth operation . Look out for rust in the trunk and rear window area . Do you have any pics . I have owned 6 of these . They are a fun car butthey do have a tyendancy to leak in hard rain at highway speeds . There is a little more road noise than a hardtop . The car is rare with only 3923 made . What options does it have ? paint color and carpet color ? buckets console ? disc brakes ? ralley wheels .

Suncoupe is an option available on Skylark and GS models . The 72 model year was a folding sunroof manually operated . The later 73/74 models were metal sunroofs more like the ones you see on todays cars and they were available as manually or electrically operated . The 72 has a gold script on the sail panel and the 73/74 has the script in the rear quarter window .
This roof was designed by a German gentleman and when he came to the USA he opened ASC . They did the conversions for BUick and several other manufacturers . This style of roof has been around for a long time . This design was first found on VW .
I have seen this roof in a Gremlin, Duster, Nova, Mustang, Pont Ventura. Now you can purchgase it for installation in any vehicle . The show Trucks! just installed one in a new chev 4X4 .
The option was rare in a Skylark with only 3450 made and out of 600,000 cars and even more rare in the GS . I have personally seen 3 Stage 1 cars , 1 GS 455 , and I have parts from a GS 350 with the sloan paperwork for it . I have the original window sticker for my Stage 1 car showing the option costing more than the Stage 1 option
when the vynil roof is figured in 351.00 compared to 317.00 . The cars have some problems with watewr getting into the passenger compartment when driving in a heavy rain at highway speeds an older roof is a little loose . The rain finds its way into the tracks and drips down on your legs . We keep a towel for this in the car when we drive it to the NATS . The tracks have no drain provisions , this was addresseed in the
73 model year with drain hoses running down the pillars and sail panels . I could go on and on about these cars . My wife had one when we married . Green with white . When I found a good one in AZ . I started to fix it up for daily driving status for her . SHe was happy with the 350 until our first trip to the NATS . SHe went down the track in a 11 second BBB and she was hooked . On the way home she asked if I could install a 455 in her car and well I don't have to tell you how I felt . SHe then picked the color out for her car and the painter did such a good job she refused to make it her driver . Now it sees a little cruising duty and some show duty . It took me 12 yeqars to find the Stage 1 car . I am now collecting NOS parts for it and plan to do a concours resto as best as I can with my limited budget. I plan on puting some pics together for a story on the resto soon .
I say buy it ! Watch out for rust in the floors, trunk quarters ect . Good luck!

Very Sweet , great color for this car . I wonder if this was one of the Buicks from the Buick Open . I understand they let players drive them when they were in town for the tournament . I have some old pics of this car with a bent fender and hubbies and dull paint . Those cannot compare to what you have done with it . Thanks for sharing
