Wheel&drag radial combo

:) I have heard alot of talk about various wheel and street drag tire combos.I have a STG 1 with 3:55 gears stock rims and 235/60-15 radial T/A's.
With 535HP,they melt in any gear!!!!!
Soooo,What STOCK appearing wheel and Drag Radial can I eaisly fit using a 67 12bolt rear end.
I love the crowds reaction today but the rubber unrecoating is getting too thick!!!!!

A little birdy told me you have 255's on the rear... you mean to tell me they still have tread?? I would imagine they would be slicks by now!:cool:

Hey Jim!!!! Well you are right,255 T/A's but they used to be 60 series now I think 40 series !!! cause of your massive MSP burnouts.
I think I will buy the Nitto slicks as other posts confirm they hook better than T/A's.Now where to buy them at a good price?

If you dn,t drive the car a whole bunch check out the McCreary soft compound DOT approved tire. They bite almost as hard as slicks.

.....also look into getting a buick mag widened. I did ..... :D and EVERYONE asks "How the Hell did you fit THOSE under a 69 quarter ???"

BTW......the 275 BFGs dont hook for me at all either but they sure grab lots of stones and throw them into my fresh paint :rolleyes:

Who offers wider stock rims ? what offset for a 67 12bolt rear?

Stage2go (hey, what's your first name?)........Wheel Vintiques and Stockton Wheels are two companies that I know of that will widen your stock wheels and I believe they also have already done ones in stock. I don't know if they charge a core charge or not. I know we have several club members that have used either one or the other with good to excellent results. So where are you guys........speak up! :D

I bought some wheels from Specialty Wheels in Portland, OR.
They are 8" wide with a 4" backspace. My 70 Stage 1 has a Ford (ooops!) 9" with disc brakes, which is narrower than the stock rearend. The frame has not been moved but I put notches in it to clear the calipers. Running 295/65 x 15 BFG Drag Radial. With a tweezer little 118 cam engine (with over 100K miles) it ran a 1.71 short time. The quality of the wheels is superb. Great company to deal with.

Mine were from Stockton - 8" rims with 5" backspacking, i believe. I bought the whole wheel (no exchange) I think they were just over $150 each.

Your best bet is ti measure EVERYTING on BOTH sides for clearence......two or three times !!

Here's a bit of info - the wheels are offered ALL chrome, or the correct way, with the spokes having a Satin finish instead of chrome. Satin is the correct factory style.

I just ordered a pair of 15X7 and a pair of 15X8 Wheel Vintiques through Summit. The 15X7's were $129 each (p/n WVI-57-573404) and the 15X8's were $138 each (p/n WVI-57-5834042). I've received the 15X7's. They look good. Different from the originals like others have said. The 15X8's are backordered until end of Feb, so we'll see on those.
