2nd Annual Gathering of the Buicks. Hope you can come!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I'm not helping organize this, but I am helping promote it. I have talked with Randall Crain in Sophia, NC a couple of times now via phone and he has invited any/all Buick lovers to this event. He is a respected Buick man in the ROA. I did speak with a couple of others who attended last year and they were thrilled with the turn out for a first year event. Well over 50 Buicks made the trip with one coming all the way from Texas (no doubt the long distance award). The local Buick dealer will be displaying some new models. Plenty of room for vendors of new or used Buick parts and with the same addmission price of a single car entry. Cars will be grouped via model (assuming there are several of each). Room for 600 cars. Well organized show with trophies available. Bring any Buick. From the early 1900's to today's models. Want to display a race car, Bring it. I know you folks up north have good luck with your get-togethers, and I hope this one builds each year also. I know, it's hard to make trips for a 1 day event, but how many Buick events are there? We are a tight group so I hope some of you will join us.

Below is some more detailed info. I will also post motel info. soon. There is a discount on rooms for all Buick attendants.

John, could you post some general directions to the event? Lenoir is easy enough to find on a map, but where do go after that?

Thanks

No directions have been sent to me yet. However, I do have the physical address. 304 Expo Blvd., Lenoir, NC 28645. One of the direction web sites should send you to the desired address.

Also, if any here plan on attending the ROA meet in Arkansas this summer, a group in NC will be in a caravan starting on June 26th. This group will be driving and hauling their classic Rivs. They will drive to Nashville, TN the first day and spend the night. Let me know if you might be interested and I will get the info. to them for a planned get-together.

I would like to attend, even if it were only as a spectator. Headed to Auto Fair this weekend and thought I might get an idea of the route to Lenoir while I'm traveling to Charlotte.

I drove to Lenoir yesterday and met the man organizing this event. He is truly a Buick lover! Exit off of I40 onto Hwy 321 going into Lenoir. Several miles later you will be in Lenoir. Look for Walmart there. The expo is just past it on the right.

Others people up north may want to come through Blowing Rock, NC on hwy 321.

If you bring a trailered car, The Red Carped INN is your best bet. More parking room.

Dwayne,

Didn't you and Wuwu go down to this last year? If I don't have a schedule conflict, sounds interesting.

I didn't, I'm not sure if James did or not. I'm hoping to try to make it this year. Let me know if you and/or James might be going.

I could use a little road trip with my car to see how it does.

I hate to say this, but that far away for me, I would most likely trailer mine down. But, then I could drive it around once there.

Well, the better half just informed me that she asked for the day off June 18. Looks like the "plain brown wrapper" just might be turning into a "hillbilly hauler" and making the trip to Lenoir! :TU:

If you think the orginizers of the event won't mind, I thought I might just throw the old grill 2 go in the trunk and invite ya'll over for a hot dog.

I'm estimating about 70 miles from Charlotte. But, that's a guess.

Going to look at a 2 car trailer tomorrow, so look out for a load of Buicks coming to Lenoir!! A one car trailer, hopefully this 2 car loaded and another 72 Riv. being driven. We are leaving with the caravan around 7 am on the 18th if anyone wants to join in. Driving I26 from TN to I40 in Asheville. Follow 40 to the HWY 321 exit and then on in town. Hope it don't rain.

Looks like there will be a silver, '70 Stage 1 4spd from Parkersburg in attendance. I am prepping my trailer this week for the journey.

It may have a for sale sign on the windshield.....I have my eyes on a couple Buicks on the horizon...........

John, Glad to hear you are making it. You would think I am getting paid to advertise this meet like I have, but I just wanted to make it a little bit better by getting some v8'ers there. Well, it worked.
A parts dealer from VA emailed us today to let us know he will be selling parts there. Maybe more dealers will show also.
I recieved an email from one of the 2 guys arranging this meet today. They will be at the Expo on Fri. from approx. 3 to 6 PM trying to get some of the things ready for Sat. They mentioned if anyone was staying in Lenoir or lives there could come over and assist for a few minutes, it would be a big help. Their normal helpers couldn't make it this weekend. I will probably will be there on Fri. to drop a couple of cars off and then come home that night to load some others for Sat.

Look for my 71 GS, a blue 66 GS Riv, white 64 Riv..............
