61 Buick Rear Axle

Does a rear end out of a 64 Buick Lesabre 4dr interchange with 61 Buick Electra 2 dr rear end. From a visual standpoint they look the same. As you may have noticed by prior posts I picked up a 61 Electra and am just trying to educate myself.

the axles in a 63, 64 and up are different only by the axles being smaller. if you want the 64 gears, you must replace the axles with the 64 axles too. the 62 and older uses a 31 splined axle and the 63 and newer use a 28 splined smaller axle. been there, done that...
