63 Wildcat Bolt pattern

I have measured the wheels and I come up with 4.75 from center to center, then I found a web site that stated to measure from center to out side of stud, which would be 5". What is the bolt pattern? 4.75 or 5" ?
Any info would be great.

The method I use is to measure from the center of one stud the outside edge of the 2nd stud away from where I started my measurement. Its not exact, but pretty close. The 63 Wildcat should be 5 x 5.

Don't forget the left handed threads on one side- I didn't know and just about got out the impact wrench-

Ted, do you happen to know if the lefties are the same size lugs as used on the Chryslers? When did they stop doing that?

I'm picking up a 64 'cat for parts on saturday & it needs tires & lugs. I have rims/tires, but no GM lefty lugs. Chrysler lefties I have.

I have had a 56 super,55 special, 63 invicta , 63 wagon,64 lark ,68 rivs [2] 65GS , 66 wildcat and none of them had left hand threads on the lugs. :Do No:

I looked into an old American Racing cataloge:

1964-1971 full size Mopars had a 1/2 RH and LH lug nut size,
1/2 RH for Buick (but that info only goes back to 1971 for some reason....)

Edit: It says 1/2 RH for the 1963/1978 Rivieras, still nothing about the other models..... :Do No:

1964 Wildcat's/Electras/LeSabre's did not have factory left-hand threads. I know from owning 3 of the above.

Of course, that doesn't rule out them getting changed to a left-hand for some reason during their life.

My 63 Rivi has left hand threads on the left side and the end of the studs are stamped with an "L". All 64 and newer I have ever owned or worked on had all RH threaded lugs.

I had a 1961 Invicta and it had left hand threads on the left side and right hand threads on the right side. You can get left hand lug nuts from Stockton Wheel Co. www.stocktonwheel.com (800) 395-9433.

The pattern IS 5X5... And yes you can put cragars on these large brake drums. I just put a set on my 62' Wildcat. Yes, a few mods, but worth it! Take the rear drums off, and put them on a brake lathe and cut off the last outer ears on them. You wont need them since you wont be running hubcaps to cool them, you'll be using the large holes in the rims for venting purposes. Make sure no one is around when you do this, because the owner to the lathe might think your gonna break his machine. An easier way to get the bulk of the fins off is to take a small mallet and knock off the tops of them, then the machining isnt so painstakingly long. When you do the fronts, here is the easiest and no grease gets in your way. Drill out the three rivets holding the drum to the hub. Pull off the hub with breakings still untouched. Again, break off the ends of the drum tips, machine, reinstall. NOW, your ready for almost all 5x5 chevy truck rims or as in my case... Cragar SS rims! Good luck! Steve

It seems to me you can get the SS wheels in larger sizes these days-I'd think a 16" would look OK and maybe clear the fins?
