I am currently restoring my 1969 Special Deluxe and was wondering if any of you guys had ANY information regarding the 1969 Special Deluxe. THe stats are its a 2 door post coupe with bench seats and a 350 ci -2 brl engine with a TH350 transmission (all original). I have heard many different things about my car and just wanted to get the facts straight. I appreciate any information any of you may have.

Well, I also have a '69 Special Deluxe 2 dr post except mine has the 280HP 350 GS drivetrain and some neato GS and California emblems! It's a '69 GS California!! :TU:

I'd say swap out the 2 barrel intake for a stock 4 barrel intake, add a nice 2 1/2" dual exhaust, Lunati 210-220 cam, put a Turbo Action shift kit in the T350, and put a 3.23 posi rear in it.

You'll have one fine street sleeper that will run low 14s in the 1/4 and cruise all night long!! :3gears:

Oh sorry, what kind of restoration info were looking for?

Well i was looking to swap out the carb for a 4brl carb, and was also thinking about getting a weiland or edelbrock intake manifold for it. I am having problems finding the correct parts for it though. What would you recommend as far as an intake manifold and carb set up that will give me the hp/torque to make my car a good sleeper.

Mike,

Until you really start spending lots of money on porting the heads, headers, and other goodies the stock four barrel intake is really good. I'm still running the stock intake, carb, and points ignition in my 350 and it runs high 13s!

Finding stock '69 four barrel intakes isn't too tough, but the shipping to get them to you is usually the killer!! The stock Buick setup is really stout, the key is in the tuning. You have to pay attention to the ignition curve (good Blue Streak points work well, so what if you have to check them a couple times a year) and you want all your advance in (32-36 total) by just above 2000 rpm. The stock quadrajet is a great carb, once you get the secondary adjustment correct so it doesn't bog off the line when you floor it.

A good 2 1/2 " dual exhaust really helps the 350 breathe. I picked up several mph in the 1/4 by changing out the exhaust, then added a couple more mph when I installed an X-pipe in the system. Cheapo Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers are all I am running and it sounds great!!

Thanks, i will definately take all of that into consideration. I will definately start looking for stock 4brl intake manifolds now and quadrajet carb. Also thanks for the exhaust advice, as I need to replace that as well, mine is all rusted and rotted away.
