4spd wiring dilema

While cleaning up the dash wiring on my '72 4spd car, I found these two heavy guage wires with similar connectors, one purple the other violet with a white tracer. The only place that I can find where they might connect is a switch above the clutch pedal. The switch has a lever which is depressed when the clutch is pushed. It appears to be one of those switches that engages the starter with the clutch is pressed. I just want to make sure before I plug these wires into the wrong spot or wrong order and #@*$ something up. Does anybody see these in their car?

The switch is to the right of the wires (at 2:00 o'clock) with the two prongs facing left.......

I just checked my car and I have two purple wires (same gauge as yours), but no white stripe on either :Do No: The two purple wires meet at an orange connector and the connector goes onto those two prongs pictured on the clutch petal.

Sorry. Maybe the stripe is for '72 models only, or someone previously 'played' with the wiring on my car and changed a stripe wire to a solid one?

Got a chassis manual? Here's something to think about: The 1970 chassis manual states
When the clutch pedal is released, the clutch start switch is open; when the clutch pedal is depressed, the clutch start switch is closed. Since the switch is connected in series in the solenoid circuit between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid, this means that the engine cannot be started unless the clutch pedal is depressed

If it is a series connection, it doesn't matter where the wires are located, as long as they are both connected to that solenoid.

My 69 has the white strip but most of the strip has been rubbed off :puzzled: the white strip wire goes on the inside teminal and the plain purple wire goes on the outside teminal :cool:
my 69 has an auto trans (bought it that way) but the clutch pedel
is still in the car
they had a wire to bypass the clutch switch so I pulled

the wire out and pluged it in and it still works!!!!!!!

Thanks Mark, I'll try it that way but I should be slappin' a 455 in soon. I just want to make sure everything's right under the dash before the battery goes in. :TU:
