I recieved the info for my 10 10 GSX today from Wayne Roberts. It was the 448th GSX built in 1970.Looks like the options that are on my car that were above standard on all GSX's were Stage1,A/T,PS,AM Radio,A/C,tinted glass, and tilt wheel. The ordering dealer was dealer code 21-161 Ewing Buick in Dallas,Texas invoice date 5/01/70. I looked on Mark's dealer code list and dealer code 21-161 shows for both Ewing Buick and Orand Buick Co. am I to assume that that dealership code was under two names because it sold and changed names in 1970? Can anyone give me the street address info for Ewing Buick? Is Ewing Buick still in business or did they sell out to Orand Buick co.?

Ewing exists, but in name only. They've moved around several times over the last 10 years. Now they also sell Pontiac and GMC. Currently they're on LBJ Freeway (IH 635) in the Dallas/Garland area.

Used to think I knew of all the GSX's that were sold in the Dallas area. As far as I knew, I had owned the only two 10-10 cars sold in the Dallas area. Apparently I was wrong!

I don't know exactly when Orand ceased to exist and changed to Ewing, but I'm pretty sure it was in the early 70's late 60's, which seems to agree with your paperwork.

Hi Dean,Would you happen to know the street address for Ewing Buick in 1970? If you do not have it maybe by being local you could find it? My GSX was once owned by Jerry and Pam Berger in Waco Tx. if you have any other info I would love to hear of it,Thanks

I know for a while they were on Dallas Parkway, but I don't remember when they actually moved over there. I'll see what I can find out.

I've known Jerry and Pam for years and if that's the car, then I've actually laid hands on it! Small world. I didn't know at the time that it came from Orand though.

Let me see what I can dig up, and I'll get back to you.

Here is a window sticker from a '70 GS Stage 1 that came from Orand.
http://www.sd455.com/buickws.jpg

Since your GSX was built in 1970, and this sticker shows that this car was delivered to Orand, we can assume the name change took place in late 1969 or early 1970. I've found references to Findley (Fin) Ewing being the son-in-law of Mr. Orand, so that could explain the name change.

As far as I know, the address given in the earlier post by "henry white" was their location until they moved to the Dallas Parkway location in the '70's. They're now located at the LBJ Freeway location given above by "Doo Wop".

By the way HERE (http://ewingdallas.com) is Ewing's current web page.

Rusty
What actually does Wayne supply for documentation?
Fortunately ,my GS cars were sold new in Canada so I have GM of Canada documentation but I have always been tempted to get Wayne's documentation as well
Thanks

I'd be surprised if the info was any different at all. But then again, I expect Wayne would probably have it organized possibly a bit better. :Do No:

I think the first GSX we owed was also sold at the same dealership. It is now owned by another Board member.

Rusty,

I am working on a new list of dealers. It will be a little while but it goes back to 1970. I will check on the list and see what information is there. I do not think the street address is listed.

Rusty and Dean,

I know of 2 white X's that came out of Dallas. Janelle McHam's 10 10 4 spd was in Dallas and purchased by a college friend of mine (Pontiac guy) who later sold it to Ed and Janelle McHam. The other was the car that Rusty owns now. It was purchased by a friend of mine from NY while he was here visiting. (Stu Graham). Car sat in our shop for a long time along with a 72 Stage 1 conv. also purchased by Stu on another trip to Texas ( car was from New Orleans and I went with him and drove it home to Longview) Eventually, he needed money so we bought both cars. We later traded the white X for a 71 Stage 1 convertible that the Berger's found. That gave them a white and yellow X and gave us a 71 and a 72 Stage 1 convertible. We later sold the 72 stage 1 convertible ( triple green car) to a friend and it is currently in SC. We still have the 71 Stage 1 convertible that turned out to be an SCO car with factory special order buckets. So Dean, you just thought that you owned all the white X's in town. A great source of info on Buicks in Dallas is Don Delo. He was a pontiac rep in the day and had his hand on the pulse of most performance Buicks and Pontiacs in the area. I believe that he either owned or facilitated the sale of both of the above X's. I do not know where he is today. I think he moved to FL. I can try to see if I can find him.

Bob

Hey Bob.

Don't forget that the X I sold to Jim Turner in Bronte also came from Dallas via Ken Pruitt Buick. My first white one came from a dealer in Big Spring.
