I have a competition plus shifter on my 69. What are my repair options other than sending it to Hurst. Spent 30 minutes on hold with them and have a bad feeling thats indicative of the type of service I'm going to receive. Has anyone delt with their rebuild service before? Or does anyone know of another source to get the shifter repaired.
Thanks
Matt

Yes I do and he is a real craftsman. He can rebuild the mechanism and plate the stick if you like. Looks better than the Hurst factory ( now Mr Gasket) job. He also does manual transmissions. Located in WVa.

By the way Hurst (now Mr Gasket ) will not accept or deal with the stick just the mechanism.

I can vouch for the great work that Dennis does...Jim told me about his
service. I sent the shifter in for a rebuild and he not only rechromed the shifter handle but he also put the correct gray phosphate coating on the body of the shifter for a very reasonable price.:TU:
Thanks again Jim!

Just to stir the pot, sent my factory 4-speed shifter to them (Hurst)... Awesome and great turnaround??? :TU: :TU:

And beats the out of what Year One charges...

Matt,

I have never tried to call Hurst, but have had them rebuild three shifters for me. I just send them in with a money order & they rebuild them & ship them back. I have been very happy with their work. If you need the handle rechromed you will need to send it out to a chrome shop.

I have used Hurst and I like them Ok too but their finish coat is not as nice as Dennis' and they will not deal with the handle refinish.

I just had a Competition Plus rebuilt by Hurst. They promised a 3 week turn around, and it arrived a few days early.

The quality and workmanship were outstanding.

I did not know that they would have rechomed the handle for an extra $40.

This is the 3rd unit they have done for me.

Highly recommended.

If someone can help me, I will insert some digital pics......
