We were out crusing around town in the Invicta earlier tonight. She was being
driven fairly hard, heck, she beat a 1967 Mustang GT in a race as well as a
souped up mid 1980's Ford Pickup. Well, we pulled up to a stoplight and when
it turned green she got floored. Now to the point of my post. It seemed like
when she got floored that the tires were spinning although they were not. So,
this leads me to believe that mabye the converter was/is slipping. Mabye I
am just over reacting but I would rather be on the safe side. Thanks for the
help!

Are you sure the trans did not go into high stall mode? My pops 61 lesabre will usually turn the tires over if jumped on from a stop. But I think your convertor just went into high stall. How does it feel on moderate accelleration up hills or with a load? If a convertor is slipping (not at all common) it will do so almost all the time. Have you made sure the fluid level is good? The trans is more likely to slip in the clutch pack than the convertor unless the convertor is blow, (usually the stator). I sort of doubt it is.

I think you may just have found a new spot you never reallized was there.
