Specialty Wheel ( not in Portland Ore ) in Troutdale Oregon.
Troutdale is a small town just east of Portland and they
may list themselves with a Portland listing but they
are actually in Troutdale.
I live 3 miles from them and they do a perfect job.
I am currently using them on my 70 GSX.
Good people, they are! :3gears:
There phone number is 503-491-8848

There is a five page thread a few threads down that discusses this topic in great detail. Its called "New Source Needed for 15" Rallyes".

It was started last year after Specialty Wheels announced that they would no longer supply Buick wheels, leaving only Wheel Vintiques as a (sometimes) manufacturer.

I would not buy from Specialty Wheels. I ordered a set of WG offset 15" x 7" ralley wheels the first week of January and I am still waiting for two of them. They told me at least a couple more weeks for a total of 8 months. When I ordered them they told me 12 weeks. After about 14 weeks I called to find out if what the status was. The person I was talking to told me a couple weeks. After three weeks I called again and got the same story. I called several more times and he would tell me a week, a couple days, etc and still no wheels. I finally got the set of wheels around the end of May. When I got them two of them needed to be sent back. The chrome in the center of the wheel of one was not adhearing to the wheel and the center of the other had large indendations on the spokes. I called specialty wheel and the first thing they told me was they don't put out bad wheels. I asked them to take them back and tell me what they thought. I sent them back and heard nothing from them for 2 weeks. I again called them and they had not looked at them yet. A week later they called me back and agreed the wheels had to be redone. At that time I was told they would be done in 7 days. After another 2 weeks I called to find out where the wheels were. The had not been worked, the person I was working with was not there and they told me to call back in a week. I called back and the guy I was working with was not in so no one knew what the status was. I was told they would call me back in 30 minutes. The next day I recieved a call and was told it would be another 15 days minimum. Looks like I might get them the end of August if they are telling the truth this time but if their current performance is anything like their past performance I might get them for Christmas. The only positive thing I can say is that the chroming on the wheels that were good look really great.

Sounds like Specialty Wheels is actually a front for General Motors service departments nationwide. :Dou:

Can anyone provide the correct part # for the 15x7 WG offset wheels? I thought it was the 15x8 that looked like the WG's.

Thanks,

Eric

Contact Dave Kleiner at GS Restoration if you are wanting to get a set rechromed. My personal opinion is have a place reproduce a set of WG's unless you are going for concours and even then I think they except reproduction parts. The cost of new reproduction is about the same as having a set rechromed. Dave can help you get a set of wheels. The only problem with the rechromed wheels is they polish the spokes. I did get a set of WG reproduction for specialty wheels also but I was not happy about the time frame (8 months) and having to send two back to be rechromed. To get a set of WG that do not need to be rechromed is going to be tough. Also check with Mark Reeves here on the board. He has been helpful to many in the past.

Eric,

If you want to make a call and get a set of wheels, there are no options for WG wheels. That's because there is only one (sometimes) manufacturer, which is Wheel Vintiques(WV). The references to Summit, Jegs, etc. are just for WV retailers.

WV simply offers Buick type "57" wheels by sizes, period.

Of course, if you have a set of WG wheels that you want restored, plus a large bank account, everything is possible.

I just bought a set of WGs from Specialty.

Jim,

There is another very long thread on this topic which was started late last year when Specialty Wheels announced that they would no longer offer Buick wheels.

Did you buy your wheels since that time? Are they offering Buick wheels as a regular product, or was this a special order or return of some sort?

They arrived within the last week or so. They were made within the last 30 days by order for 71 wheels. WGs were made by mistake and I bought them for a 70. Price deliverd was about $830 for 5 wheels so I think the cost was about $140 per wheel and about $25 per wheel to ship.

That's good info, Jim.

It looked last March that even WV was going to stop offering Buick wheels, as many of us had to wait several months to get any. So, now having two possible sources is very welcome news.

I also received my wheels within the last couple weeks but Specialty took 8 months to get me a set. Sounds like some people are having better luck with them then I did. They also charged me $1100 delivered for 5 wheels. I will not do business with them again. They kept telling me two weeks and they did that for 4 months. Dave Kliener also has a wheel manufacturer that can reproduce WG wheels. Call Dave.
